(On tap) Hazy, pale amber with a small, off-white head. Malty aroma. Medium body with marked sweet and malty presence. Rather vague smoked notes and a subdued bitterness. A very, very mild smoked. It’s quite obvious that Copenhagen is a far distance from Bamberg. Apparently the smoked malts are home made based on beech chips. 200606

(Draught @ the Brewpub) Dark red-ish amber with a firm head. Hoppy aroma. Big hoppy bitterness. A drinkable IPA but there’s better examples out there.

Draught. Burnt plastic aroma. Clear dark brown colour. No head whatsoever. Tastes like burnt plastic too, only with some bitterness. I guess this was off.

A black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is roasted with a combination of anise and licorice. The flavor is sweet with notes of licorice mixing with the notes of roasted malt, leading to a dry end.

(On tap) Completely black and opaque with a handsome, creamy, light brown head. Extreme licorice aroma, completely overpowering the burned malt. Medium-bodied, marked burned malts and an extreme spiciness from the star aniseed. I don’t believe I’ve ever had a beer with this much licorice flavour. A light underlying acidity. Very special indeed. 210506
