12 oz bottle purchased as part of a mix a six at Lukas in Overland Park, Kansas. Pour is pale golden with a lot of active carbonation bubbles building up a one inch pure white head. Thick carbonation bubbles continue to rise to the surface well after the beer is poured. Aroma is wet earthy hay and light toasted malt. Also, a slight crisp grass hoppiness. Fresh nose, though a bit muted. Taste is ever so slightly sweet toasted malt, along with the grassy earthy hops in the finish. The sweetness is dry honey, apple fruit and floral. The finish is slightly bitter and dry. The aftertaste reveals some wet cardboard and some tin, but not quite enough to detract. Palate is thin to medium, active carbonation. As mentioned a crisp and drying finish. Drinkable beer.

More disrespect. Nice pour with a medium size head that fades in a timely manner, but never fully. Color is copper-like brown, lightly hazy, unfiltered or lightly filtered. Aroma is rich with a creamy-chocolate-hazelnut character that I am simply adoring. It is like a rich ice cream. I am surprised and shocked how rich and welcoming this is. The taste does not live up to the aroma. It has some dark, brown pound cake kind of maltiness but then there is an inexplicable mineral water flavor witha very strong un-citric lemon-mineral finish. Something is amiss there. This aspect needs to be changed, I will re-rate and hope its only this one bottle. Some of that wonderful hazelnut sweetness at the very end of the afertaste hidden underneath the mineral flavor.
12oz, bottled about 12/21/08 (maybe a bit old), Free State willibecher glass.

I tell you what, this gets no respect. What is the problem with you people? This beer pours a beautiful hazy pale yellow color, almost berliner weisse like. Definitely unfiltered but not all soot-ed up. Has a small but long lasting head. Aroma is perfect for the style, strong on esters. I get coriander right away, not in your face but a pleasant earthy natural-ness that it can give off. Then comes the banana-bubblegum, oh its nice, and a bit milky as well, which is cool. There are light citrus beams throughout as well. The earthy/natural coriander and the esters tease and play with my nostrils, I like it. Taste is nice but just doesn’t live up to the hype of the nose. The coriander comes out a little more and the esters take a bit of a backseat (but actually come alive in the aftertaste). With the coriander upfront it kind of thins out the beer and make it seem a bit empty. But it goes down super easy without seeming too watery, which I think may have to do with the oats. Drinking this makes me wish it was summer already. When I was a kid I got no respect.

The time I was kidnapped, and the kidnappers sent my parents a note they said, "We want five thousand dollars or you’ll see your kid again."

12oz, bottled about March 26th, 2009, Unibroue Blanche de Chambly flute glass.

Pours quaintly so with a medium sized head that fades into a moderate lacing. The color is clear copper, has just a slightly sticky lacing. Aroma is a mish mash of hops with nothing standing out. Its aggressive, lightly fruity, bitter. There is a watery caramel maltiness mixing in there as well. Its very tree leaf like and that mixes with the light, watery caramel, which is not aggressive or overbearing. Comes off as bland tea as well. Taste is similar, the bitterness is stepped up a bit, the malts fade, which is a good thing. The hops are bitter, green, leafy and somewhat clean. Heck, its an IPA, not badly made, nothing special, and well... its an IPA. I can say for sure this is the best bottled beer in Kansas at this time, which isn’t really saying much. I guess FlssmrBrewAlum says it best "not an IPA that stands out among many, but a brew I’d buy if it was a regular in my area" and it happens to be that.
12oz bottle BB 4/30/09 (I would guess these are 6 month BBs), 20th Anniversary Free State German-inspired pint glass. 7/3/7/3/15

Drinking the second batch of this beer. I like the little tinkering, they took away some of the lightly abrasive bitterness and replaced some of that watery caramel with more of a medley, light sweet hoppiness. Leaves a nice long light sweet and floral aftertaste. I like it a bit more now. 7/3/8/3/16

Draft at Auntie Maes in Manhattan, Kansas. Pour is reddish brown with a smallish off white head. Aroma of a bit of malt. Taste is sweet fruit biscuit malt and caramel nuttiness. There are some British type hops in the middle / finish. Palate is thin to medium, nice enough body. Very drinkable beer. In a college town like Manhattan, this should be a popular beer. Thanks Jeff for the info on where your beer was on, well worth seeking out.

16 oz draft at Auntie Maes in Manhattan, Kansas. Pour is hazy gold white with no head really at all. Aroma initially of not too much, we were in kind of a dank smoky basement. Eventually got some lemon / lime citrus. Taste is sweet crisp orange / lemon / lime citrus and wheatiness. Refreshing, clean and tasty. Citric finish, this tasted really fresh. Palate is thin without being watery. Thanks Jeff for the info on where your beer was on, well worth seeking out.

Pour is a brown with a white head. Aroma is a roasted malt and not much else. Flavor is an improvement. Some roasted chocolate and a nice caramel malt topped with a touch of hops. Nothing mind blowing but this is a decent brown.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is very faint with only some yeast standing out. Flavor is weak and watery with only a small amount of cirtus comeing to the fore front. Pretty weak all around.
