Pours a murky brown, but lighter towards the top, mahogany and chestnut reds. Good beige head that lasts, lot of lacing, nice aroma of hops, lots of caramel malt and a good amount of alcohol. Begins very malty, with lots of medium bitter hops background. Texture is great, slightly carbonated, caramel malt lingers and turns into a butter toffee. Finish is creamy and over fairly quick. Not as good as some other harvests, but the balance is definitely there. Flavor is true, just could use a bit more depth of hops profile.

Golden in colour with a thin off-white head. Smells of honeysuckle, a bit of malt and a slight metallic twang. Light-bodied; Strong flavour wtih the hops noticeable, a strong malt background and a subtle sweetness. Aftertaste shows a decent malt and hop character. Overall, a decent pils - a bit lacking though! I had this pint at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York.

Light amber in colour with a thin tan head. Very strong grapefruity hop aroma. Strong, fresh and very nice! Medium-bodied; Significant hoppy flavour with a good malt background. Aftertaste very bittered from the hops. Slight citrus taste from start-to-finish. Overall, a great IPA, well-balanced and complete! I wish this was a year-round offering, but it's great to have it very fresh. I had mine when it was less than a week old. I got this pint on draught at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York.

Very dark brown colour, 90% opaque with a nice-sized tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, sweet pit fruit and even a touch of hops. Medium-bodied; A bit of sourness in the taste along with roasted malt made it not too enjoyable. Aftertaste of tobacco and some slight 'off' flavours. Overall, not as good as I had hoped for...a sub-par porter. I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 1-October-2003.

Decent copper colour, pretty nice looking for the style. Moderate off-white head which stays for a while. Medium/Thin bodied with a decent taste. Some hops, some malt but all-in-all a good beer to just sit down and drink without thinking too hard about the complexities. No big complaints about the taste, only that it needs a bit more. I had a pitcher of this on Draught at MacGreggor's in Rochester, New York.

Dark burnt brown head, not much of it. Smells slightly hoppy, surprisingly. Initial taste is. . .hoppy?? wow, this is an interesting one. At first I thought, did they give me the right beer? But upon drinking more, an even malt flavor made its way out, slightly caramel/syrupy, maybe even some bitter malt tones, very pleasing and fresh, albeit understated. The beer finishes much like an amber ale, slight caramel notes, and even a little hops on the finish. Not much roast to this one, and the body was not as full as your average porter today. However, after the 1 pint of this I had, I already liked it much more than upon my first sip. I see this as a very traditional old porter, which was more like an old ale, mixed with a pale and a brown. This beer isnt overpowering, and is very well made. Ok, so I still think it could use a bit more complexity in the finish, and they should bring out the malt flavor more. Carbonation was perfect though on tap.

Darker amber colour with a very small off-white head. The smell was very hoppy, and was probably severely dry-hopped. The taste was pretty good, a good balance of hops and malt but definately a hoppy aftertaste makes for a decent beer. Not a top rate IPA like Stone, but a decent one none-the-less. I had this on tap at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York.

Lovely aroma of cedar, hops and a mild sweetness - copper color with slight lacing - nice combination of hop bitterness and malty sweetness, though not as much hops as I would like - still pretty tasty, though.

Okay, so it's a bit thin-bodied for a porter, as many have pointed out, but boy is it tasty. Pours fairly dark (but not quite dark enough), with a good 3/4 inch, white head - coffee aroma - the flavor is the same, with some very unique, fruity notes, and a touch of caramel - a bit of a grainy taste comes in for the finish, which is slightly malty - overall a solid, tasty and somewhat original product.

Dark brown w/ red highlights. Aroma of coffee, alder, light grass, almonds. A little bit thin. Dry, toasty character, with some nut and coffee. Off-dry finish. A little lacklustre, but worked with Papa Jake’s meatloaf sandwich (you know you’re in Buffalo when…)
