Description
For us, good living means exploring – the opposite of “comfortable.” It’s not just about craft, but about questing, questioning, transforming “What If” into “Here’s How,” by way of an experiment so crazy, it just might work.

Exploration is the line from local beer maker to World-Class Brewer. It’s a pioneer impulse, and it sets the authentic, rural heartbeat of Southern Tier. It’s how we got here. And by the time others catch up, it’ll be why we’re already somewhere else.

From our wildly innovative founder, Phin DeMink, who’s still a daily inspiration, to the new generation of brewers, thinkers, and drinkers who share our pursuit of what’s next, we keep honing the creative edge of brewing discovery.

So this is an open invitation, to anyone who gives a damn about the difference between a well-crafted beer and a stunningly satisfying encounter with the new. Join us on the road less traveled.

On draught at MacGregor’s in Rochester, NY. Big and black with a tan head. Completely opaque. Heavy aroma of chocolate and coffee come easily even before this warms up. Rich dark roast coffee flavor, with some licorice coming through. Smooth creamy thick palate. Coating. Nice bitter finish. Very well done Imperial Stout.

Bottled. Copper coloured, not much head to talk about. Orange and hops in both aroma and flavour. More on the watery side.

Every time I try this beer I like it a little more. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a bronze color with a large tan head. The aroma is sweet and has a pineapple element. The flavor is sweet and fruity with elements of pineapple and grapefruit. The sweet fruity flavors linger on the tongue. Excellent!

Extraordinary this is not - not much going on here except the minor hop profile and some bread-like qualities with nothing grounding it or holding the flavors together - high carbonation only accentuates the missing flavors.

A large creamy off white head forms at the pour, over a sparkling dark amber body. Moderate malt aroma, with some apple, brown sugar and spice in the aroma as well. Fruit and malt notes in the flavor. The sweetness is balanced by some strong bitter hops underneath. Overall, the flavor really never decides a direction in which it wants to go, but remains pleasant if only a bit lacking in direction.
