Taster at the tap house. Light lager color. Simple “beer” nose. Taste is a nice, but very basic light lager one. I know the style does not get much love, and this a very well-made summer lager. But there is the dilemma of a style meant not to jump out at you.

12 oz. can from Binny's There is, of course, a big piney American hop nose right as I popped the tab. It pours a rich orangey kind of IPA body, under a big spongy head. The taste is also big on hop flavor, with a lot more citrus going on beyond the basic pine. I'd say there's a hint of orange juice working at the back of a pretty bitter hop palate. The high alcohol is noticed at first, but kind of settles down after the first few sips. There is plenty of hoppiness to go around. This stakes its own territory apart from other high octane hop bombs like say, Bell's Hopslam. Perhaps it's from using fewer hop varietals, and foregoing a dry hopping stage, this one seems to have a bit fresher, even more… approachable assault on the palate.

Pours dark golden with a thick white head. Aroma of guava. Taste has heavy elements of lactose with a thick fruity finish. Palate is nicely sour and complimented by guava and other tropical notes, slight elements of white grape must. Good.
