Draft at Piece. Looks deceptively like the same ol’ Bud when poured in a lager stein. Golden pils color, short frothy head. "Clean" lager beer smell. The taste is pretty yeasty for now, but otherwise clean. Sweet with an equal share of bitterness. All I can really say is that it is "lagery."

Taster at Piece. Here I had thought this was just a nice dark English ale. Bartender was kind of busy, so I wasn’t bothering him for specifics. But a Schwartz? Nah. My tiny amount looked cloudy brown, with a distinct fruity ale smell. A very nice "Irish Red" ale malt profile, and just a twinge of European finishing hops. I kind of regret not getting a whole glass of this.

Draft at Piece. Rating #1050. Cloudy brass color, wirth a persistent stiff head. Plenty of malts in the smell, actually managing to override the hop load for a bit. Taste brings up a beautiful balance of excess pale ale malts, fruity notes and all, with a hit of earthy, grapefruitty and piney PNW hops. That bitter hoppiness stgicks to my lips. A great ale all the way down.

Deep burgundy red to brown with a nice light creamy moka head. Wonderful hoppy aroma, floral and herbaceous, very pungeant. In mouth, caramel malt with loads of c-hops, pleasing and much in stule to I2PA. Rich bodied, with funky hops remaining, not cloying. On tap at Piece, Nov. 12, 2005.

I had this earlier, but couldn't find enough information to create an accurate entry. Still and all, a warm, yet dark brown/black color. There is a definite coffee roast note here and an impressive alcohol warmth. Not one to make you jump out of your seat, but I'm all for more imperial stouts.

Beer-judging sized sampler. Light brown in color, but very hoppy in nose and taste. Borders on pale ale territory, but my bartender says it is a mild.

Beer-judging sized sampler. Appropriately cloudy, even a little white like a Belgian. Has an extreme banana and lemon nose that overwhelms the other hefeweizen spices.

Beer-judging sized sampler. Very spritzy and lemony. Has a thin head with some lacing over a straw colored, slightly cloudy body. Grassy hops, just a little sour, and a nice clean finish. Yeah, that pizza is pretty good (thin-crust on a cracker-style crust is Chicago’s “other” pizza, and they do it pretty well here).

Beer-judging sized sampler glass. Nice amber ale color under a thin head. Lightly malted and hopped, but it leaves a good malty aftertaste (or is that the Wing Nut still in my glass talking?). Pretty good standard football-wachtin' beer.

Draft, at Piece. Fascinating brew. The waitress said it wasn't made to any style, I'd call it either a very malty IPA or a very hoppy wee heavy. A fine white well-behave head that leaves a little lace. Dark, cloudy brown body. Very bitter hop nose and nut brown malts, even a hint of peach brandy. It's one of those that tastes like it's been barrel aged, but really isn't.
