Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Deep reddish brown colour, some bubbles on top and aroma of malt, dark chocolate, liquorice. Taste is malty, bready, with chocolate, and spicy earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, malty finish. Quite OK.

2/1/2022. Bottle at the New Year beer share. From Northumbrian Gifts. Tyne & Wear rating #300. Pours clear dark amber bronze with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, liquorice, dried fruits, Xmas spices. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, oily texture, average carbonation. Liquorice dominates the finish. Enjoyed this.

Large foamy light brown head stayed on a copper coloured body. Spiced fruit & bitter aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & rounded with a tingle in the back. Toffee, caramel, spiced & berry tastes with a tangy finish. Good one.

Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured a jello orange brown with a white bubble head. Aroma is malty, bitter hops. Taste is bitter hops, malty breaks thru strong.

500ml bottle [however Grumbo managed to fetch this from an allegedly closed brewery - all the more I'm indebted to say thank you very, very much!]. Clear, dark, chestnut colour with ruby shimmer and average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Toasty, minimally nutty, malty, and floral hoppy aroma, a grainy touch of spelt. Taste is dry, floral hoppy, toasty, minimally nutty malty, hints of toasted nuts, Brazil nut, a grainy touch of spelt, moderate hop bitterness, no residual sweetness, very subtle spiciness with a salty touch of liquorice. Watery texture, smooth and soft palate, fine and soft carbonation. Quite intense, beefy for its average abv - not bad.

2/12/2020. Bottle sample courtesy of danlo, cheers Ed! Pours clear amber bronze with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, hop and fruit. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, average carbonation. Finished with a little spice and alcohol soaked dried fruits. Warmed to this one.

18/11/2020. Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Pours almost clear pale amber with a frothy off-white head. Aroma started quite sulphury, but that eased leaving quite nice toffee, sweet malt, bready, biscuit and fruity notes. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Quiet enjoyable.

500ml bottle from Rehills. Deep amber brown colour, white foam head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of malt, light roasty, caramel. Taste is sweetish, malty, toffee, slight roasted and dried fruity notes, with some earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry nutty bitter finish. Quite OK.
