500ml bottle from Rehill's Jesmond. Golden colour, white foamy head leaving lacing and aroma of lemony citrus. Taste is malt, caramel, floral fruity citrus with hop bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry citric bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

I bought this while on holiday in Northumbria. After getting excited about craft brewing, unfortunately this took me back 10 years to the wishy-washy ales that forced me over to lager. The aroma, appearance and palate are all verging on bland. The one thing in this beer’s favour is that none of these mediocre qualities overpowered the others, so at least there was balance in the palate.

Historical tick which I am adding as a rate so that I can see the impact it has on my stats. 500 Beers To Try Before You Die. Bottle. Hogs Back Shop? Uninspiring.

1/12/2019. Bottle, sample, courtesy of danlo, cheers Ed! Pours clear, dark amber/brown with a lasting slightly frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramal, butter toffee, toasted grain, biscuit and malt. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness, quite earthy/nutty finish. Moderate body, oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Not bad.

Cask at Pineapple beer fest. Very dark red, almost black colour. No head. Soft in the mouth, nice feel. Aroma is quite fruity, and lots of creamy coffee. Little bit of spice. Not wildly exciting taste, but very smooth and drinkable. Maybe a little bit nutty. No carbonation. --- Beer merged from original tick of Newcastle Coffee Porter on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Small creamy white head left a collar on a clear light golden still body. Minimal floral aroma. Medium bodied, well carbonated to the fore with a crisp back. Herbaceous tasting with spices, tea, bitter pith, grapefruit & malt followed by a long fruity tangy finish. Decent Stuff
