Description
Mordue Brewery built up a local strong and loyal customer base which saw demand require no less than 3 expansions of brewery, from the original West Chirton site to a huge brewery in the Tyne Tunnel estate. This new range of beers gained both local and national awards. Mordue ceased brewing on 6th June 2019 and subsequently the brew equipment was auctioned.

However later in 2019 the Mordue brand was relaunched by the Blue Brewing Co. a gypsy brewery which is owned by a group of North Easterners with a wide background of skills who came together, not only to keep the Mordue beers alive but also for their shared passion for Craft Beer.

Clear ruby bitter with a thick head. Looks as exactly as a bitter should. Otherwise it's a touch uninspiring, perhaps unsurprisingly. Light malty smell, taste is malt, some caramel and a little hop and perhaps a hint of some sort of spice but it's all a bit watery so it's hard to tell. Not horrible.or anything just a bit... meh.

Cask at the Central Bar (Wetherspoons), Shepherd's Bush. Dark amber with a thick off-white head. Average condition. Nice and malty up front, some berry notes, toffee and just a faint touch of spice in the background. Decent enough darker bitter, pretty drinkable actually.

Bottle at home alongside the Sunday roast beef dinner. This is my sort of beer, a true to style English IPA with a gang of bitter hops running riot across the taste buds. It perfectly complemented the meal and slipped down a treat.

Bottle at home. A balanced taste, but with perhaps a slight emphasis on the sweet malts. This was not unwelcome and made for a great mouthfeel and fantastic drinkability. Very nice.
