Bottle from Woodhorn Museum. Appearance - amber brown with a decent head. Nose - bran flakes, honeycomb. Taste - caramel and brown bread. A hint of something citrus and cleansing towards the end. Palate - light to medium bodied. Creamy and crunchy in texture. Overall - good example of the style. Not sure I'd have guessed a champion beer of Britain.

Cask at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. A dark chestnut pour with a thin cream head; aroma of chocoalte powder; rich, almost meaty, in the mouth with a chocolatey taste and some fruity raspberries; then a dry fruity finish with a lingering raspberry edge. A satisfying porter.

Bottle from Beer52. Clear amber with a light fizz and a white head. Malty at first with raspberry and blackcurrants coming through along with peppery weetabix. Some autumn leaves in the dry finish. I have no idea why it's been entered on here as a gold; it's very definitely an ESB, and it's quite an enjoyable one.
