Description
At DESTIHL, we brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing & because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. Cheers!
DESTIHL was founded on the promise of supporting flavor and boycotting bland. We're an independent, production brewery that was established in 2013 in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois to brew beyond the confines of typical beers. Our team combines centuries-old global brewing traditions and new American craft brewing ingenuity & artisanship to produce a wide array of beers for every palate. We brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing and because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. The result is a diverse offering of intensely flavorful beers that are anything but bland, from our award-winning WiLD SOUR Series, barrel-aged Saint Dekkera® Reserve Sour Ales and Dosvidanya® Russian Imperial Stout, to our many Belgian-style beers, IPA's, other wood-aged beers, classic styles and exciting seasonals. DESTIHL has become a brand, but we have not strayed from our roots. We take pride in our values and will continue to grow and support our local community. We promise to deliver on these uncompromising beliefs. Every beer we brew is unique. So, whether you share it or hoard it, we hope you enjoy it. After all, you deserve it.

On tap @ Avery Sour Fest 2014. Pours a reddish brown appearance with a brown head. Tannic, dark grape, heavy aroma with some vinegar. Blackberry / raspberry / black cherry flavor with some acetic acid, vanilla, and wood. Finishes very tart. A bit strong for me, but not horrible.

On tap @ Avery Sour Fest 2014. Pours a cloudy, light yellow appearance with a white head. Aroma was pretty dull- maybe a touch of corn - along with some lemon twanginess and a hint of lactic. Actually quite tart flavor with a nice dose of lactic acid. Some pineapple and lemony notes. Finishes pretty dry and tart. Low sweetness and bitterness. Pretty good.

On tap @ Avery Sour Fest 2014. Pours a dark golden orange, slightly hazy appearance with little head. The aroma was just plain horrendous. Acetone, nail polish remover, and heavy chemicals in the nose. I was nervous to even taste the brew. I suppose the flavor was slightly better but it was also incredibly bad. There was maybe a hint of fruit, but it was otherwise an acetic acid bomb full of chemicals. Disgustingly bad. Worst of the festival. It actually was one of the more talked about brews there but not for good reasons.

Can from a six pack I brought back from Illinois. Poured a slightly dark straw color with a medium sized white solid head. Aroma was some notes of grain, straw, lemon. Notes of bready and yeast notes are present too. Flavor was light lemon zest notes, yeast, earthy hop character. Pretty clean and easy to drink - not as refreshing as I’d hope, but light enough and has a pretty clean finish.
