After many years of brewing and the many awards that have adorned Haymarket Beer, Peter L. Crowley understands a thing or two of what makes a great beer. We named our company – Haymarket Beer Company – in honor of those ideas and the people who took pride in them and worked hard to protect them. (That’s a great story, by the way, and you should read more about it.)
We’ve built Haymarket out of everyday people – office workers and school teachers, stonemasons and police officers, plumbers and postal workers – with one promise: making great beer for great beer drinkers. It means that even as we grow, that we never lose sight of what got us where we are today – each other.
Forgive us for getting mushy – this kind of stuff doesn’t come out well through a computer screen. Come and see us the next time you’re in town. We’ll show you what we mean.

In Chicago while visiting the midwest for my Grandma’s 95th! Really interesting with esters, citrus and nice addition with the yeast.

Tap at Haymarket. Malty. Sweet. Imperial. Cognac tones. Pretty cool offering.

Tap at Haymarket. Monstrously sweet, which actually makes it true to style somehow. Deep cinnamon, cardamom, fig tones.

Tap at Haymarket. Murky copper brown. Sweet and figgy. OK brewpub Dubbel, but notreally approaching the real thing.

Tap at Haymarket. Filtered yellow-tan body. Overboard and artificial lime tone. Unimpressive. Really one-dimensional.

Tap at Haymarket. 160 gallons of white peach juice huh? Tastes like the added 160 gallons of juice. Drinkable, but a pretty weak offering. Juicy..in a bad way.

Tap at Haymarket. Thick, heavy, old school. Drinks quite big for the ABV. Classic. Deep Munich malt tones. Heavy.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours copper with gold flecks. Full white head that is retained throughout and patterns well. The fig is a bit overpowering here on both the aroma and the flavor. Many of the complexities of a Dubbel are lost because of that. Still a nice beer.

On draught at the brewpub as part of a sampler. Hazy dirty yellow with moderate pristine white head that fades to a collar of small bubbles. Patterns thorough across the top of the glass, then disappear. This beer was nice, but everything was in moderation compared with the description. Slight spice. Not too much Amarillo and finished semi-dry.
