From a 330ml bottle on 5/6/2026 (shared by Ed with thanks). Pours a deepest brown with a decent dark tan head. The nose is rich with dark chocolate, dark berries and a good whiff of whisky. It’s rinse and repeat in the sip, rich and decadent, chocolate, brown sugar, berries, dried fruit and subtle but notable whisky notes. Has a modest roasty, warming bitterness at the back. Has a thick, oily palate with moderate carbonation. Complex and really nicely balanced. Lovely.

Can. Lightish amber with a loosish 2cm white head that lasts OK. Aroma is floral with kumquat, grapefruit, light breadcrust, pine. Perhaps a little mango in the taste too. Moderately sweet with breadcrust and fruit yielding to pine and firmish bitterness. Good; nudging up on a bit clinical.

Can. Amber with a pale beige head. Shyish aroma of citrus and toffee. Then much more tropical fruit in the taste mainly mango. Then pine creeps up towards the fairly bitter finish. Felt a little disjointed to me.

Ramjet is infamous now? I thought it was just well known amongst a bunch of local stout likers, but apparently it has been stabbing some peeps. Anyway. Bottle. Black, a 3/2,cm tan head. Aroma of mocha and roast just ahead of whisky and berries. Hits that texture where it’s powerful yet gentle - barrel and stout have room to move. Honeycomb and oak -tinged bitter finish. Enough bitterness to suggest it will age at least 5 years. Really inviting.

Can, 12C. Dark brown, tan head. Aroma of mocha, roast, some spices. Decent body for just 4% - nowhere near watery. Modestly sweet. Chocolate and roast, moderately spiced bitterness. Almost as good as their Yorkshire Dark and impressive for the ABV. Love to see this as a regular on tap.

375ml can at Monster and Beer, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Poured a slightly unclear golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malty, light toffee, light citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, fresh, yeasty, toffee, light herbal, melon, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

375ml can from Monster and Beer, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Poured an unclear yellow golden colour with a thin white head. The aroma is grainy, light citrus fruits. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a crisp, fresh, light grassy, lemon citrus, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. An Aussie twist on a classic European style.

From a 375ml can (shared with Ed and Butz). Pours a deep brown with not much head. The nose gives you some cellared, choc, soy and whisky notes. Taste follows suit with that typical Baltic porter aftertaste. Finishes moderately bitter, with some sharp roasty notes and a bit of warming whisky. Has a slightly syrupy palate and moderate to average carbonation. Very enjoyable.

From a 330ml bottle on 20/3/2026 (shared by Ed with thanks). Pours near black with a smallish head. Have a lovely strong cherry choc nose. It's liquid rich black forest cake for sure, with a touch of vanilla and marzipan. Dessertish yet not overly sweet, it finishes with a tangy bitterness, with a hint of whisky at the back. Syrupy palate with softish carbonation. Really nicely balanced, complex and impressive.
