From a 330ml bottle on 11/1/2026. Pours a deepest brown with a tiny bubbly head that dissipates almost immediately. The nose is strong and lovely - complexity, fruity and malty, with just a hint of booze. The taste delivers on the nose, with toffee, caramel, brown sugar, plums, dates and raisins, finishing with a lightly sour bitterness with the barrel aged booziness presenting nicely int he warming finish. Full bodied, and a touch syrupy, with moderate carbonation. A lovely and very impressive sipper.

From a 440ml can on 31/12/2025 (2025 edition, shared by Butz with me and Ed). Pours a deep brown with a small tan head that disappears. The aroma features a big coffee and chocolate with the barest hint of booze. Tastes of coffee, dark fruit, dark chocolate with hints of vanilla, and some warming booze. The palate is syrupy, the carbonation moderate. A complex, enjoyable coffee oriented sipper.

From a 330ml bottle on 31/12/2025 (shared with Ed and Butz). Pours a deepest brown with a small tan head. Has a powerful nose of licorice and aniseed. Super intense on the sip -all licorice and aniseed, with a real medicinal, salty finish. Not very sweet, and a bit harsh for mine. Has an oily palate and average carbonation. The others rated this, and it’s definitely different and interesting, but for me, hard to drink and not particularly enjoyable.

Can. Almost black, a tan head is gone with the pour. Aroma of chocolate and vanilla syrup, dark roasted malt, oak - nice but mainly additions. Not as sweet as expected but still lots of syrupy things with oak, roast and a very little bitterness at the end. Boring.

Can. Very dark brown with a 2cm beige head. Aroma of earthy roast, coffee, spices. Dryish and quite bitter but there's a tropical fruit note there that really doesn't fit at all. IMHO not a good hop choice.

Can. Gold. A white head is gone in seconds. Clovey aroma with crackery dough. Barely medium bodied. Carbonation is a bit low for this sort of thing. Light bready dough with pepper, coriander and cloves and a neatly bitter finish. Not their best but OK.
