For the bronze final in the FIFA World Cup on Saturday eve (08.07.2006) on TV, I picked two German beers. During the first half I had 500ml of Erdinger Weissbier. Creamy white head. Hazzy yellow. Fresh, but light wheat aroma. Rich banana flavour combined with grain and notes of yeast. Soft carbonation. Overbearingly sweet. Straightforward. And no scores at the Gottlieb-Daimler- Stadion, so I went for a stronger beer...

500ml bottle in an Erdinger World Cup glass at Blå Rock Cafe in Tromsø while watching France vs Portugal on TV. Cloudy, reddish brown in colour topped with a small, but lasting brownish head. Aroma of wheat and dark chocolate. The flavour combines lots of sweet, roasted malts with an yeasty backbone. Medium bodied and dry mouthfeel. A bit too carbonated. OK.

500ml bottle served in a long tall World Cup glass at Blå Rock Cafe in Tromsø while watching Start vs TIL. Very nice appearance. Hazy dark brown. Sweet malts in a rather hard-to-pick-aroma. Flavour of dark fruit with light notes of yeast. Medium palate, but far from powerful.

pale yellow with white head. Aroma of malts & wheat. Sweet malty flavour. Some flowers in here. Taste of a lot more than it appears. Appears very thin & boring. Finish is medium sweet of flowery notes & malts. Medium carbonated. Pleasant.

Bottle on 07/25/2008. Clear golden body with a medium frothy off-white head. Sweet grain, wheat and faint banana and fruit aroma. Sweet fruit, more banana, clove hints, and a wheat finish. Style # 61/70 Special ordered for me by Ryan at Country Club Liquors in Bakersfield Nose is wheaty with small citrus notes; very slightly hazy gold with a medium white head and lots of bubbles; flavor is of malts, wheat, and citrus .

Malzig-herber Antrunk, der ungewöhnlich mild erscheint. Gleichzeitig wird das Bier deutlich hefig, eine Alkoholnote kündigt sich an, erscheint dannn aber doch nicht. Die ab dem Mittelteil vorhandene Würzigkeit ist eher halbherzig und passt nur wenig zu dem deklarierten Weizenbock, eher zu einem dunklen Weizen. Die Malzigkeit nimmt zwar bockige Züge an, diese werden aber mit auftreten der Trockenheit verworfen. Herber Abgang, in dem das Malz nur eine untergeordnete Rolle einnimmt. Entäuschend. 9/8/7/6/10/6
