Very neat aroma of bread fresh baked, cooled then busted open. Initial flavor is very smooth, one of the most enjoyable beers I have tasted. Very tasty with no bitter hops. No offensive finish what so ever. Much better than any of the highly touted bitter beers I see on this website. I’ll never taste another imperial stout or IPA again, well not for anything but a tik. Thanks erdinger. Note: My bottle did not say ’dunkle’ on it, it said ’hefe-weizen dark’ 5.5% but everybody assures me this is the same beer.

Stupendously huge head, near gushing, light-greige in colour, over mahogany to ebony beer. Soft sweet nose with coffee and coloured malts, horse fodder, malt- or café noir cookies, speculoos, sweet leaf vegetable as misuna. Licorice flavour; faintly bready, quite sweet but not as typically confectionary like most Bocks. Maybe a bit of banana, overripe, but remarkably restrained on fruitiness; cloves or other spices all but absent. Rather light bodied, no burning in the MF - and no acidity neither. A tad too sweet to my liking, but not as stereotypic as most of its brethren. Not something to go hunting for, but if you come across it, don’t waste the opportunity.

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm) Orange colour, hazy, with a huge white head. Fruity nose with notes of orange, Seville orange, cereal and some toffee. A bit restrained. Fruity taste with spicy notes of orange, banana and plum. Fairly dry, short finish. Well made and refreshing, but a bit restrained.

Tasted at the Minneapolis Oktoberfest, and it was labeled as an oktoberfest and not festweisse. The beer had a dark orange appearance and a large but short lived head. The aroma was of malt and sugar. Flavor is sweet with malt and earth. Thick and sweet overall, it has excellent palate and is very good for the style. I am very surprised that this is in fact a hefeweizen and uses wheat. That explains the sweetness. Still good in any event, even while it does seem strange to brew a hefeweizen to taste like a marzen.

Bottle: Pale golden to golden coloured with a slowly diminishing big white fluffy head, visible carbonation; moderate citrus-fruity nose with a faint tinge of ripe berries; faint sweet flavour, nearly watery; watery, again, and a bit fruity finish. A very thin brew, doesn’t even work as a thirst quencher.........

Bottle Nose of grainy tartness. with a little banana, hazy gold with a small white head; flavor is wheaty with a little banana, and a little tartness in the finish. No date, but don’t think this bottle is very fresh.
