330 ml. clear bottle sampled as “Strongbow Gold Apple” @ home. Ingredients (loose personal translation): Cider (90 %), glucose-fructose syrup, colouring: caramel, food grade acid: apple acid, carbon dioxide, antioxidant: calcium metabisulfite, natural aroma. Yikes is all I can say. Clear golden, lines of bubbles rising, head fizzes away instantly like a soda. Nose is intense chemical sweetness, artificial sweetness & gummy bears in a bad way, plastic chemical apples, faint sugary cabbage. Intense vaguely urinal sweetness, extreme sweet syrup, plastic honey, unpleasant low washing powder chemical, excessively sweet lemonade. Sweet sugar, oily, sweet industrial honey. Bit like a bad lemonade, not the worst but not really good either.

300 ml. (yeah) bottle sampled @ home. BBF 04-2017. There is no clear way from the label to tell that this is a Heineken product. Served without ice because stuff. Clear golden, very thick / fat bubbles rising. Nose is extremely sweet apples mixed with sweet medicine, nasty big gummy bears, artificial sweetener & plastic flowers, sickeningly sweet. Very sweet apples upfront, plastic, artificial, chemical, very heavy chemical sweetness, finish is nasty plastic, bitter medicine, medicinal tables, fizzy, sulfur, bad soda. Sparkling soda body. Painfully chemical & sweet cider. Too much, bitter chemical, plastic almost tonic finish. Painfully heavy on artificial sweetener. Industrial rubbish, not for me.

75cl bottle from Sainsbury’s, Shrewsbury. Cork popped right out after un-caging. Pours clear reddish pink, big bubbly off-pink head that persists. Aroma is light apple flesh with hints of berries. Taste is quite sweet, but not overly so, with a vivid apple fruitiness. Unfortunately there seems to be an unpleasant chemical metallic finish, similar to artificial flavourings in some fruit ciders, that suggests something may have been added to this. If it wasn’t for that, it would’ve been a nice cider, but this aftertaste ruins it for me.

230 ml. clear bottle. Odd size. Palest greenish golden imaginable, almost looks like water with a faint greenish golden hue. Few bubbles rising. Nose is inanely heavy gelatin candy, chemical, gelatin plastic, extreme artificial sweetness, gummy bears. Taste is pure plastic gelatien candy, fizzy, painfully chemical, unpleasant artificial sweetner & chemical candy. Such nasty huge candy taste. Fizzy. I would rather eat candy and take a swig of vodka. Uppy teens alcopop for people who would others drink Corona. Painfully sweet & chemical.

750ml bottle from Sainsbury’s Darlington. Sparkling yellow gold colour with a white foam head that dissipates away to a thin layer and leaves alittle lacing. Aroma of juicy apple. Taste is apple, sweet, sugary & fruity, woody oak hints, white wine notes, tangy and boozy with light tannin. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry boozy finish. Quite OK.

750ml bottle from Sainsbury’s Darlington. Sparkling pale yellow colour with a foamy white foam head that diminishes to a thin layer and leaves some lacing. Aroma of tart apple, caramel, citrus, melon. Taste is sweetish tangy, tart apple, fruity, melon, citric, white wine, some drying tannin and hints of sulphur. Light bodied, spritzy carbonation, drying tart finish. Quite OK.

400ml bottle as "Strongbow Gold Apple" (brewed in Russia, 4.5% ABV). Pours yellow with no head. Aroma is sweet candied apple juice. Taste is overly sweet and sugary, with some dryness, followed by a weird sourness. A pretty awful version of the ’Bow, which isn’t that great in its original form.

Canned 500 ml from supermarket in Zagreb. Clear golden, no head, quite carbonated. Apple in aroma and taste. Overly sweet for my taste.
