Hazy orange, large white head. Orange zest, and grapefruit aroma, light tropical notes, soft malts. Solid mouth feel, carb is standard. Low to medium bitterness, juicy, zesty, pithy finish. Not bad, not great.

Can from the LCBO. Hazy medium orange with a small lingering white cap producing spotty lace. A bit of particulate. Nose is citrus peel, stone fruit, tropical fruit, lavender, light pine and some light grains. Light fruity sweetness, a light berry tartness and a medium- orange peel bitterness. Mouth is medium with average carbonation and a sticky finish.

On tap at Amsterdam Brewhouse, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has gentle piney hops and toasted biscuity malt. Flavour has plenty of bitter pine and citrus peel, with a dry biscuity malt underbelly. Bitter, biting finish. Solidly made.

On tap at Amsterdam Brewhouse, pours a clear golden with almost no head. Nose has some estery notes and bubblegum—not a proper saison. Flavour is estery as hell, with tons of bubblegum, candi sugar, cotton candy, ugh… typical incompetent estery North American saison. Flat carb, no flavour depth, way too sweet. Very bad.

On tap at Amsterdam Brewhouse, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has very faint smoke, toasted biscuity malt, and straw. Flavour is also very shy on the smoke, with a dry biscuity malt base. Clean, pleasantly smoked, but needs more oomph.

On tap at Amsterdam Brewhouse, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is restrained, with toasted biscuity malt and some lightly sweet cereal graininess. Flavour is much the same, with toasted biscuity malt, straw, and very light grassy hops. One must wonder why an established brewery brewed a German pilsner and called it a Festbier, and then UT called it a helles. Regardless, it’s a boring beer.

A solid white head on a straw body. A medium nose features grapefruit, pine, pineapple and pepper. In addition to nose elements, touches of melon and sweet bready malt round out an enjoyable IPA.

This looks like the first review of the 2016 version of 18 Hands, listed as a rustic pale ale, rather than a Belgian. Starts with a solid off white head on a clear amber body. The nose starts with a yeasty funkiness then settles down to sweet malt and a touch of spice. A nice range of elements you might expect in a farmhouse ale - banana from the yeast, a splash of citrus, roasted grain, understated earthy English hops, and touches of cloves and pepper. The Pilsner-like malt rounds it out. An appropriate mid-range body and lively effervescence.

On tap at the Tooth and Nail in Ottawa. This is indeed a beast of an imperial stout. Lovely nose of chocolate cake and booze. The taste is sumptuous, featuring chocolate, roasted malt, brandy, cream, cherries, burnt butter, and a hint of sourness underneath. Very rich, unified, dense (as if it had oatmeal in it) and viscous. A great creation.
