(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of Degarth. Hazy, pale amber golden with a white head. Spicy, slightly perfumy aroma. Medium body with lightly sweet, fruity notes. Plenty of yeast and diacetyl. Not overly thrilling. 270607

(Bottle 65 cl) Slightly hazy, deep golden with a white head. Aroma of grass and malt. Medium body with a very solid malt base, grassy notes and a distinctly bitter hoppy finish. 160607

Chestnut brown. Toasty, chocolatey aroma with light alcohol fumes. Fairly full body. Hints of demerara and dates. Late astringent bitterness.

Light amber colour. Coriander, cinnamon on the nose...light oxidation as well. Rounded spiciness on the palate with light toasty malts, some brown sugar. Hop and spice last throughout what you’d normally consider a clean finish for the style. Not bad stuff.

Not bad. Definitely no lack of ginger in here. Nose is dominated by it, with lighter roast and dry dark chocolate. Pretty dark color, almost opaque, medium head. Flavor is gingery with bittersweet chocolate. Full smooth palate, common to spiced ales. Lingering spiciness.

LIght hoppy aroma. Kind of floral. Orange amber color with a decent off-white head. Starts a bit citrus, gets even more citrus, and the malt is playing background. Some stone fruit shows up. Floral aromas revive. The finish is still citrus, the malt is not all that there, but the hop drops off enough that the finish is nearly balanced. Very different IPA.

This is a 12 oz bottle from Vintage Estates in Boardman. $1.50 per bottle. Pour is quite black, like used shovelhead oil. The aroma is roasty sweet and it has a decent bouquet about it. No head to speak of. First taste is a little bitter but that rapidly fades to a roasty unsweetened dark chocolate flavor. Decent carbonation for a sweet stout. Has that back of throat burnt sensation like the feeling you get when you get meat that has been charred on the grill. Quite an experience. A little too bitter for me if this is a sweet stout but I see now that it is not. Not nearly as good as Bells Kalamazoo or Yards Love Stout. Both of those are certainly more enjoyable. However, better than Lagunitas Cappachino and Youngs Double Chocolate Stout.

Clearish golden coloured body with a nice dense tan head. Aroma of fresh hops, citrus, pale malt and a very ligth sweetness. Medium-bodied; Sharp hoppiness up front with fresh apricots and pears following behind with a good malt backbone throughout. Aftertaste shows hop bitterness and malt going on, with some alcohol and sweetness as well. Overall, a decent IPA - nothing amazing, but nothing horrible either. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Joe’s Place in Oklahoma City (Norman), Oklahoma on 27-May-2007 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Bottle shared by Odeed; Nose was musty iwth a tiny amount of barnyard. clear light amber with a huge offwhite head; flavor was spicy, peppery, and yeasty with a tiny bit of hop bitterness showing as a last gasp in the finish.

bottle - Pours almost black with a medium sized tan head. It smells very much like dark chocolate with some roastiness. The taste also has lots more of the same with the chocolate almost overdone. It’s medium bodied, lightly carbonated, and goes down smooth.
