Rich malty aroma. Deep ripe apricot color, approaching brown. A thin white ring is all the head. Starts lightly spiced and malty, quickly give a burst of sugary sweetness, then passes to something like a brown ale taste, followed by a small amount of hop. The alcohol is definitely noticeable. Quite warming.

Bottle shared by beastiefan2k - dark brown pour with a huge, foamy off-white head - the aroma packs some light roasted malts, some herb/spice, light caramel and nuts - very foamy in the mouth, making it difficult to enjoy at first - flavors at roasted nuts, medium-sweet toffee and fruit flavor, light spices (nutmeg) - finishes with a little cocoa, but mostly clean - pretty nice.

Bottle. Mahogony brown beer with a big beige head. Nice caramel, slight roast aroma with lots of hops. Big complex malt flavor with some chocolate, roast, and caramel. Also pine and grapefruit backing. LIngering malt. Nice balance. Very drinkable. Somehow as soon as I heard about this beer I knew Dave would be the first person to rate it.

Bottle. Amber beer with an off-white head. Grapefruit, pine, resin aroma with some sweet malt backing. Big resiny flavor with grapefruit and pine and just a bit of earthiness to go with the sweet malt backing. Lingering grapefruit and resin. Medium body. Nice bitterness.

Great aroma of malt and hop; some cinnamon as well? Some sort of spice. Deep ruby tinted color with a vigorous beige head. Starts with spice. Very frothy. Then the malt comes forth. The hop is there, but this ends dry with roasted malt underflavor. The mouthfeel starts medium, but tends to thin. It seems to be very well balanced. It is really good.

Bottled. It pours a deep brown, almost black, with a reddish hue, and it looks clear, with a dense tan head. Coffee, chocolate, roastiness, cigarette-smoke and cola in the aroma. The flavor has cocoa, chocolate, roasted malt, tobacco-smoke and a little dryness. Drying, full-bodied mouthfeel and a very chocolate-like finish. A lovely organic beer. (070119)

22 oz bottle. Dark red-brown body with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. Flavor is slightly roasted chocolate and a bit spicy bitter hop. Bitter in the aftertaste. Really nice.

Bottle, marked organic. Pour is rather boring... no head, amber/straw color. Blah. Aroma has some grapefruit/tangerine citrus with a grassy backdrop. Somewhat weak for an IPA. Flavor is a little more interesting... a bit of a pine resin character comes through and balances a slightly sweet caramel malt presence fairly well. That said, it is a little bit watery and would be a lot better if not for that.

Poured black with tall light brown head. It has a chocolate aroma along with slight oxidation and molasses like malt sweetness. The taste starts off with tart roasted malts, tart chocolate malts, tart burnt malts, tart coffee and nothing to really even out the overall tartness. This beer misses the mark for me much like the majority of over priced organic brews I’ve tried.

22oz bomber. Color is copper with some red and some sort of hazy orange. Thin long lasting off white head. The aroma is a bit too light to really get a good sense of it. I think I get some vague hoppiness like pine and also a hint of malt. The flavor is up front pine hop bitterness with slivers of sweeter pine hop flavor. Following that I occasionally get a thin watery flavor. Then the malts enter with light roastiness, biscuit, melanoidin and wet hay. This IPA is maltier than most and one of the better organic brews I’ve tried.
