Ooh yeah, nothing better than a macro-brewed pilsner!!! I can’t believe I keep finding new ones in the same damned cities! w00t!! Has a bright yellow body and small light and foamy head. Light cardboard aroma. Flavour is bread, armpit, sand. Dry finish. Just about what you’d expect - bad, but not awful. I think that’s a compliment!

Originally rated September 2005. One of the cheaper lagers from Lakeport. Pours a rich golden colour with a very small head. The carbonation is lively and the nose is grainy with malt. As for the taste, it starts off grainy, has a slight bitter in the middle and then finishes smooth with some more grain malt. I also found some notes of apples in the finish and aftertaste (which is what I liked in the off-the-market Edelbrau from Northern Brewery). Really not as bad as it looks.

Originally rated November 2005. Last of my 4 brews for this Tropical Beerfest night. So this one is the only non-Mexican one. Brewed in Canada by Lakeport as a premium Mexican style. Pours a pale yellow, same as Corona. The white head is creamier and the lacing is better than the other three beers tonight. Decent malt scent, much better smelling than the Sol (which had a barn thing to it). Same watery mouthfeel as the others. Good crisp taste of clean mild malt. Quite refreshing and better than all other Mexican brews, with a higher ABV % as well. Note: The recipe has changed since and now it is one of those cheap corn beers, but back in the day - this was pretty good for the price for those who like those refreshing cervezas.

Originally rated December 2005. OK. This beer spells more popcorn, than pilsener. It pours a golden colour with a small head and lacing. The nose is malty with some notes of corn. Water mouthfeel that is crisp. The taste has a slight bite at first with some bitterness, but then leads into the major corn dish. When a burp comes out, that is when you feel the popcorn effect... you can even taste the butter on it.

Can: Poured a clear golden color beer with a small foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma consists of weird grainy notes with light metallic taste. Taste is also a mix between some dry unrefined grainy notes which are more or less pleasant. Boyd is thin with good carbonation. I guess this is probably OK for people not drinking alcohol or for functions were alcohol is not allowed but apart from that it should be avoided at all cost.

Originally rated May 2006. Lakeport Light is $24 for 24 bottle (before deposit and taxes). It pours a normal golden lager colour with a white foamy head that dissipates fast enough. One bubble at a time carbonation and very mild soapy lace. Decent aromas, found in a normal lager (5% ABV). Watery mouthfeel. Starts off with some light malt flavour and very slim corn comes out in the aftertaste. An unexpensive, unoffensive light brew, and great for the hockey playoffs.

Originally rated June 2006. Lakeport Ice pours a golden colour with a hue of copper. The white head is small, but stays a while and leaves some lacing. Heavily carbonated with a big grainy scent and light chemicals. Watery mouthfeel with a mild syrup feel. Grainy cereal taste with a decent grass finish. No burn and easy to drink. An ice swill with some little character, above the normal ice macros.

Originally rated June 2006. This one pours a golden colour without the copper hue of the Lakeport Ice (that I just finished). White head that is bigger and leaves much more lace, all around the glass and quite thick. Same heavy carbonation. At first, the nose is grainy with slight sourness, but then, the alcohol comes out to haunt. Smooth watery mouthfeel. At least the alcohol is not present in the taste, and there are no burns. Mild corn taste with a little sweet finish that turns into a very light grainy aftertaste. Prefered the Ice over this one. The True North Strong is a better strong beer. Overall, I’ll take Lakeport products over Laker, for swill with just a tad of character.

Originally rated July 2006. This is the beer Lakeport brews for IGA Superstores in Quebec. It pours a golden colour with very active carbonation creating a big foamy and creamy white head. Good retention leaving nice circled lace. The nose is different, with some sweet malts mixed in with some mild nut, alcohol, grain and grass. Thin mouthfeel with some light stickiness. Mild malt taste with some slight bitterness showing in the finish. Found it better yesterday from the bottle. Would buy this one again if I was low on cash and needed some swill, and could not make it to the Ontario side to buy Lakeport, which I prefer over Laker and PC brews.

Originally rated October 2007. This one only comes in a 24 pack (if you want bottles). It is part of the dollar-a-beer brews. Pours a copper-red colour with a tanned head that leaves good lace all around. The nose is pretty decent at first, then kind of disappears. The mouthfeel has a nice wetness for refreshing purposes, but also sticks a bit too. The taste surprised me too, with some nice malts found in red beers, but then lands into the typical corn-based finish. Overall, was quite please with this one for the price and for a hot summer night.
