0.33L bottle, small quickly dissapearing beige head, dark brown colour almost fully opaque, strong aroma of roasted coffee with some smoked and caramel notes. Taste is also dominated by roasted coffee with some metalic notes lingering to the end which is quite short.

0.33L bottle, small almost non existent head, clear medium brown colour, aroma with some malt and notes hops which are not to atractive. Light aroma of roasted malt which feels bland and watery, carbonation is a bit to strong. Aftertaste is short and mettalic. Not good.

330ml bottle from Plonkers, Friarsgate, Derby. Gold with a billowing white head; musty lychee aroma; stewed tea taste, not the most pleasant; with a sticky damp cardboard finish.

Bottle in Australia. I really struggled with this concept. I understand radler to be a lager best drank outdoors, in the sun after/during a bike ride. I was doing none of things and instead drank it on a couch, indoors on a pretty chilly evening. And I found the overt lemon additive very unsatisfying.

Bottle shared at Porterhouse, Covent Garden. Pale gold with thin white head. Not a great aroma, bit nothingy, faint hop on finish. OK, but doesn’t taste of much.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, dark, orangey brown with a small, rough, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and some alcohol - a fairly authentic "German" aroma.. Solid body with a fine base of roasted malt, caramel and some nuts - a lightly burned accents also. The finish is dry with both some bitterness and some alcohol. In spite of the confusion about the contradictionary name "Doppelbock Ale", this clearly is a Doppelbock - even a good one. 200208
