Description
Ridgeway Brewing was established in 2002 by master brewer Peter Scholey (former head brewer at Brakspear) and his wife Vanda. The name comes from the ancient trade route that winds its way through English countryside between small towns. It has been around for thousands of years, adapting with the changing times, The reason why we chose the name Ridgeway, apart from living on it, was that we hope to create lasting experiences, believe in the long term and love the outdoors.

Bought by Crafty Brewing in February 2025.

33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours loaded gold, almost amber, fairly transparent, with fine white foam. Aroma is a little alcoholic and floral. Body is fairly dense, alcoholic, with average carbonation. Taste is intensely sweet, but with an overwhelming alcoholic feeling. Final is pretty long and sweetish.

Bottle. nalane do pinty Samuela Smith'a.

Bottle from Booths Supermarket, Media City. Golden with an extremely thin head. Steady enough golden ale, nothing too wintery about it, but nothing to bad either.

Bottle. Black/dark brown with a small whiteish/beige head. Very mild aroma of citrus fruits, butterscotch and a handful of diacetyl. Taste of lightly roasted malts, some citric fruitiness, red berries and minerals. Lasting bitterness. Thin and metallic. Medium carbonation. Just barely ok.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours unattractive opaque amber, probably because of being of the end of the keg, with persistent white foam, very fine. Aroma is alcohol, honey, figs, caramel. Body is average, but with quite a carbonation, which results in a mouthful. Taste is a good balance of honey sweet and some decent bitterness. Final is long and warm. Overall, I feel this beer is a little too boozy. It even feels much more alcoholic than it really is.

Bottle, 7.5% ABV Clear very dark brown with a light tan head that doesn't hang around too long. Aroma is roasty with dark fruit, burnt coffee & licorice. Not as welcomingly soft as their FES but a balance of sweet, roasted and fruity before a drying and bitter finish.

ottiglia 50 cl, ABV 7.5%, schiuma fine color cappuccino media persistenza, colore marrone intenso quasi nero, al naso cacao caffè vino porto, in bocca malto tostato e leggero affumicato caffè cioccolato al latte vaniglia e leggermente speziata, lieve acidula, corpo leggero, watery, alcool perfettamente bilanciato e pericolosa, carbonatazione piatta, corpo leggero, amaro moderato. Manca un po' di carattere ma in ogni caso è una buona birra per le feste. c. Bottega della birra Arona. 28.12.19

Bottle. Clear pale orange/light copper with a decent white head. Aroma of apples, plums, biscuits, a hint of citrus fruits and a little bit of marzipan. Taste of malts, apples, raisins, oranges, caramel and a bit of biscuit. Distinctive bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation. Ok, but I wish it was more balanced and would have preferred if the apple was toned down a notch and the plum/biscuit-part was amped up.

Bottle. Clear dark gold without any head. Aroma of apples, grass and a little bit of lemon. Taste of apples, malts, citrus fruits, vegetables and herbs. Very dry and pretty bitter finish. Low to medium carbonation. Not really convincing.
