Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a clear nutty brown with a beige head. Roast dominates the nose combined with some citrus. Medium body, heavy roast - licorice and coffee with a massive roasty finish. Bitterness really appears to be more of the roasty kind than from the hops. 161211

2009 Limited Release bottle picked up in Santa Barbara. Pours with a black body and a brown head that fades before it arrives. Somewhat glass coating. Aroma of brown sugar, baked biscuits, chocolate, cinnamon, cocoa powder, vanilla beans, pretty rich smelling. Flavors are not so good. Light infection. Vinous, dark fruits, bitter cocoa, lactic sourness, metallic. Light bubbles, watery, infection (once again!).

Bottle from the source. Pours with a near black body and a tan head that fades to a ring in 25 seconds. Aroma of chocolate, milk chocolate, unfermented wort, oat meal cookies, vegetables, cinnamon, leather and smoke. Flavors of iodine, roast, chocolate, nougat, smoke. Very thin and watery. Light leather. Roasty, vanilla, nutty, very bland flavors. Coffee and mocha detectable. Light bubbles.

Tap and bottle. Pours with a hazed brown body with hardly any head retention. The fleeting image of a head was khaki colored...I think. Aroma of brown sugar, nuts, cinnabun, tobacco, molasses, soil. Very sweet smelling. Flavor is sour milk, nuts, cinnamon, earth, vomit, and showing obvious signs of infection. From the tap the smell was not as good but the flavors were only marginally better. Too much tannic extraction. Licorice, vegital. Currants. Ash. Watery. Drain pour.

2010 bottle number 224/275 from the brewery. Shared at a Blue Palms Blind tasting. Pours with a brown body and practically no head. Aromas of cola, wood, bourbon, currants, brown sugar and vanilla. Flavors of cream soda, brown sugar, wood, vanilla, cola and dark fruits. Light bubbles. Creamy mouthfeel. By far the best beer I have had from IBC so far.

Bottle from the source. Pours with practically no head...actually, there really isnβt any. Chill hazed amber golden body. Aroma of raisins, nuts, pine, chocolate, and everything you donβt think of when you think IPA. This beer is horrible. Green apple, dirty malt, super tannic from grain extraction (think sparging at 190*), soil, bitter, no hops. Really undrinkable! Probably the worst IPA that I have had. Drain Pour.

Bottle. Pours with a clear golden body and a small white head that fades quite quickly. Aromas of fruity, tropical fruit, floral, lightly spicy hops. A bit of raw grain. Flavor is bitter, corn kernels and dusty peanutshells. Light tropical fruit notes. Probably the best beer I have had from Island yet. Thin with medium bubbles.

Bottle purchased at the source. Pours with a mostly clear golden body with a somewhat longer (than per IBCβs usual) lasting white head. Aroma of candy corn, caramel, honey, bread and spicy hops. Taste is a bit bitter, tannic grain extraction, honey, and hops. Really dry, but not horribly flawed. Some metal notes. Lively bubbles, dry, bitter finish.
