Bottled@The Chriso rock the roof down pre-GBBF tasting. Quite much pitch black colour with small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, liquorice, some mild coffee and chocolate as well as mild toffeeish and vanillaish notes. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and some vanilla and fudge. Pleasant.

Bottled@The Rake. Near black colour (very deep rubyish copper), small beige head. Aroma is sweet malts, some burnt sugar, mild toffee, vanilla and some slight bitterness. Flavour is sweet malts, toffee, vanilla, wood, some floral hoppyness along with fruits and raisins. Pleasant. The Pat-is-smashed got a nice addition in volume from this one...

Bottled. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has strong notes of iodine as well as medium notes of roasted malt and whiskye - a bit too much iodine for my liking. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, iodine, chocolate, and alcohol that burn on the palate. Too much iodine for me.

14th July 2010. Bottle in the Rake. Very dark red brown clear beer. Frothy short lived tan head. Smooth soft palate, a little dry. Immediately obvious is smoke! Then rich malt kicks in with a sweet toffee note. Some repressed fruit peeps through before a soft creamy finish that has contrasting spice and smoke. Different and very drinkable - certainly my bottle went down very easily!
