Bright clear amber beer with a tiny white head. Light and semi dry palate. Low carbonation. Even malt with a little orange hop with a rare minty cool on the back edge of the hop that I have only ever come accross a couple of times before. Finishes semi dry with a hint of hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Interesting!

On tap at the Rake. Very slight haze on this amber beer, no head at all and neither any carbonation. Zilch! Semi soft and semi dry palate. Even malt with bitterish orange and some dried fruit. A little spice and a trace of banana. Finishes dry with a spicy bitter aftertaste. Warming afterglow. It’s okay but a bit too obviously a ’muscle beer’. Could do with a little refinement but love that this new brewer is out there brewing big beers loud and proud!

Bottle from Beer Ritz, Leeds. Couldn’t help but think they’re trying to bite Brew Dog’s style with all the guff on the label. Poured a dark orange colour with a thin off white head. Aroma a bit underwhelming, slightly sweet with some pissy hop lurking. Flavour had some half decent hoppage along with the crystal malt and some fruit and yeast notes. Reasonable lingering bitterness in the finish. Balance maybe a little off. Drinkable enough on the whole though, and along the right lines.

Cask gravity at Dudley Winter Beer Festival. Pours a hazy ruby with no head. Aroma was orangey piney hops and alcohol. Taste was quite a letdown, nothing to start and some piney hops on the finish. Disapointed.

Bottle No:331 of 504 from Utobeer, Borough Market, London Sat’ 13th Nov’ 2010 consumed on Loz’s birthday 14th Nov’ 2010 Pours dark brown with a dark old bloody redness colour also going on. Nose is a bit dusty, old furniture and hard toffee with a waft of smoke. Taste is much the same but with burnt toffee, quite sweet but very good. Never had this breweries beers before but I certainly enjoyed this one. A6 A3 T8 P3 Ov14 3.4

Cask handpull at The Rake. Dark red no head. Some hop some decent red malts. Bit thick on the rubber flavour on the swallow. Needs work maybe. 3/5. Well they have worked at it and come up with this for the Sainsbury beer hunt 2013. Now I should like this. An American amber. But I still don’t like it much. Not sure if it is infected but I get some almost Belgian or saison yeast on this. Yes some hops later on but I wanted to like this beer but if anything it’s worse than the last time.

Bottle 363 of 458 @ The Rake. Very dark brown. Rich whiskeyish nose. Good chocolate but lots of nice phenols - huge whiskey taste with lots of peat smoke. The beer overall has a nice chocolate and whiskey character but might be a bit thin for its size.

Bottle at ChrisO "I’m Trying to see the Stool" pre GBBF2010 tasting. Rather peaty, earthy and tarry. Lots of tar. None of those flavours particularly appeal to me although I know others liked this beerr.
