About
Stroud Brewery was established in 2006 by Greg Pilley and his wife Jade. The business has grown steadily and now employs over 20 people. We recently constructed a brand new building purpose built for our growing needs. It provides more space for the brewery, allowing an increase in our production capacity, a larger office and a canal-side tap with beautiful views of the Golden Valley.

We have created a range of organic beers that we are really proud of, because they taste great and their production supports the local farmers and the ecosystems they manage. The standards we must adhere to for organic certification support our ambition to be a business that cares for people and planet.

26/8/2021. Cask at the 2021 East Anglian Beer Festival, Bury St Edmunds. Pours black with a small bubbly tan coloured head. Aroma of liquorice, ash, roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruit, coffee biscuit. Moderate sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Medium body, oily creamy texture, soft carbonation. Looked good, with great depth for its abv. Enjoyable.

Bottle from The Farm Shop, M5 Gloucester Services. Pours a clear light golden/amber colour with a thin white head. Aromas of floral hops and citrus with a hint of biscuit and caramel. Taste has floral, citrus, biscuit and grainy malts and a touch of grass. Thin to medium body with a very smooth oily mouthfeel. Quite nice.

Bottle from The Farm Shop, Gloucester M5 Motorway Services. Pours a clear light chestnut colour with a thin off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee and a touch of orange. Taste has more of the same notes again, lots of caramel, slightly buttery with some added toasty bread and floral hop. Thinnish body, fair carbonation and smooth oily mouthfeel. Quite tasty for the low abv.

500ml bottle from Gloucester Services. Pours clear amber with a beige cap. Aroma: malts, Christmas type spices. Taste: light sweet & bitter, heavy spices - ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon etc. Medium body with loose carbonation. I found this quite unbalanced, the spices are overdone. Also, there's no way this beer should have the style of Bitter, it ought to be classified as a spiced beer or an amber ale

[33cl can from Beer52.] A cola coloured pour with a thick oatmeal coloured head; fruity chocolate aroma; coffee taste to start, then some sour cherry followed by molasses and chocolate; then a dry finish with lots of bitterness, apparently from the cherry stones. An interesting brew.
