Pours dark, not much carbonation but that’s not the point anyway. Aroma is full of vanilla, nice milk chocolate. Tastes like liquid cookie, alcohol is well hidden, no way there is 15 percent of it. Cocoa, chocolate, syrupy and very sweet. Bitterness is coming out in the aftertaste. Best sweet beer I have had.

Literally crazy. Lots of coffee, chocolate, oak and maple syrup. Jesus! Thanks Gregg!

Over the top sweet coconut and chocolatey nose with vanilla and oak playing in the background. Super big body, tons of coconut, roasted cocunut, chocolate, sweet as hell, lots of nuts, would be awesome with my wife’s homemade granola and smells kinda like that, so much chocolate. For 15% it is insanely well hidden, though there is just a bit of a burn. Never cloying, but a bit too sweet, but the depth is incredible.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy golden amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, juniper berry, pear, pineapple, apricot, lemon/orange peel, peppercorn, pine, coriander, clove, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, juniper berry, pear, pineapple, apricot, lemon/orange peel, peppercorn, pine, coriander, clove, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind/herbal bitterness, yeast spiciness, and slight fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, juniper berry, pear, pineapple, apricot, lemon/orange rind, peppercorn, pine, coriander, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and minimal lingering astringency after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly sticky/resinous, and lightly grainy/creamy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Belgian DIPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle courtesy of Michael! Thank you! Pours viscous black with a small mocha head that leaves some sparse trace on the glass while dissiapting. Smell is malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, charred wood, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, bbq banana with chocolate syrup, roasted coconut, moist soil and bourbon alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and nutty. Mouthfeel is viscous, round, oily, tiny astringent, slightly oily, boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter, malty and nutty with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, coffee, chocolate, coconut, moist soil and bourbon alcohol. Crazy intense and decadently tasty!

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 5/2016. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, nuttiness, light coffee/dark fruit, and oak/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Some slight booziness as well. Taste of huge caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, nuttiness, light coffee/dark fruit, and oak/roast/toasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, nuttiness, and oak/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and oak spiciness balance; and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly slick/silky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish; with slight booziness. Overall this is an incredible imperial brown ale! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. This was a lot more barrel forward and a bit more roasty on the malt character than the Lil’ Griz. A highly enjoyable offering.

Can: Black, with a small tan head. Light cocoa, vanilla, coffee scent. Taste is mild....but solid coffee/chocolate malts...roast, sweet milk. Quite tasty. Though it feels light, it drinks with a lot of flavour and richness.

Tap at Seva Detroit. Murky orange golden with white head. Orange juice, grapefruit juice, apricot, light sweet malts and a bit of grass but mostly just a lot of juice, and not even in a very hoppy way. Under medium sweet, lighter bitter and light sour. Medium bodied. I wouldn’t even call this an IPA but it’s great.
