Description
Initially launched in early 2020 as a gypsy brewery, they opened their own brewery in Autumn 2020.
Newbarns is a brand-new brewery, but the team behind it certainly know what they’re doing. McKenzie, his partner Emma McIntosh, Jonny Hamilton and Fred Bjerkseth have an impressive array of experience between them from the likes of The Kernel, Siren and Beavertown breweries

Good pils. Nice husky grains, crackery pale malts, grassy bitterness. A little yeast poking through. Pleasantly dry. Sound.

23/5/2025. Can bought at Bacchanalia - Mill Road
Store in Cambridge. Train beer home take 2. And one I enjoyed much more. Good pour. Sweet, malty, toffee, bready, whisky cake, fruit cake, dried fruits. Quite sweet, mellow bitterness. Decent body. Good finisher.

Store in Cambridge. Train beer home. Floral, grassy, herbal, nettles, sunflower. Unpleasantly bitter. Notwithstanding its high ratings I didn’t enjoy this.

Can picked up at Newbarns. It pours darkest brown to black with a small khaki head. The aroma is rich roasted, very chocolate forward, cocoa, cacao nibs, pipe tobacco, touch of toffee and chewy liquorice. The taste is initially dry, deeply roasted malt, earthy, bitter - sweet character, rather savoury, coffee grounds, cocoa dusting, cacao nibs, treacle, some warming alcohol, plenty of umami, liquorice, toothy and a some toasted spices. Finish is drying and deeply roasted finished. A rich chewy & savoury porter.

Can. A light haze on this gold beer, decent bubbly off white head. Light palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Slightly thin bodied pale malts, teeny tiny bit of natural grain, a thin but pleasing sweetness. Strata hops deliver light smooth cooling pine, a bright skunk note and a pleasing hop fruity brightness that does include some of yer actual passion fruit, something this hop is renowned for but, in my experience, is absent more often than it is present. A kinda muzzy background hop fruit array of slightly ripe citrus and vague stone fruits. Passion fruit does stand out here if not carrying quite the punch it could do. A clean and very quaffable light IPA and doing a splendiferous job with Strata.

Вроде и нормальный стаут, но ничего я не запомнил о нем кроме как его сильного характера и бочки.
