From a 75 cl bottle bought at Belgiuminabox. Quite strong gushing, but manageable. Loosely structured, coarse, off-white head only retaining on the edge of the glass (apart from a wafer-thin ’island’ in the middle) but vanishing after several minutes; initially clear golden blonde robe with lively fizz, turning a hazy peach blonde as more of the bottle is added. Aroma of canned apricot, candied banana, white pepper, lemon, wet hay, powder sugar, sweet white wine, coriander seed, orange peel, strong ripe gooseberry, sourdough, soapy wheat, cider, mojito, chalk, overripe kiwi, some urine. Estery onset, very sweet apple- and even strongly cider-like with further flavours of gooseberry, sweet white grape, pineapple and some banana, clearly overcarbonated even for the style, honeyish and caramelly malt sweetness in the middle with an additional, tiring white candi sugar sweetness on top and unmistakable wheat ’soapiness’ below, lean and on the thin side; the sweetness, though not too cloying, remains in the end, as the hops department is restricted to a certain grassy and floral quality lacking in bittering power but leaving some bittering grape peel accents; tingling carbo even hits the back of the mouth, impairing drinkability. A chalky powder sugar sweetness remains, together with curaçao sourishness, adding a welcome refreshing effect; a bittersweet coating of coriander ’soapiness’ is there too, but not too obnoxious. Weird beer: I will respect ’brewer’s intent’ here, but if this is to be judged as a saison, I have many objections: too sweet, too wheaty, not hoppy or refreshing enough. In fact, this seems much closer to a witbier (i.e. the sweeter side of the style’s range) than to what I expect from a saison - mind the spices used too in this context! Overcarbonation combined with an unstable head - even in terms of appearance, it is clear something went wrong here. Looks and even smells like fermented and spiced green apple juice in the end... Hard to pour down, too sweet, overcarbonated, poor from a technical point of view and certainly not a saison no matter how this ’style’ is defined, this is not a great success, that much is clear.

From a 75 cl bottle bought at Belgiuminabox. Heavy gusher, beer poured out of the neck upon opening. Loose, irregular, fairly stable, off-white head over a hazy, warm orangey ’old gold’ blonde beer. Aroma of soaked bread, soapy wheat, wet hay, grape peel, dried flowers, mouldy orange, lemon zest, breakfast cereals, apple juice, sourdough, hint of chlorine, thyme. Taste fruity, very applish, pineapple, hint banana, orange, soft carbo, deep sourish graininess, bready barley sweetishness, supple and a bit oily, floral hop bitter ending, gentle and a bit grassy. Decent, I can imagine this being a good summer quencher.

Bottle at the Belgiuminabox open warehouse. Pours very dqrk chocolaty brown, towards black. Big white head. Smell is not so intense. Somewhat sweet, hints of roastyness. Light body. Roqsty, mildly sweet MF. Tqstes like a weakened stout . Rather high carbo. Easy drinking. I’s call this a session stout if it were not 8 abv... Alcohol is very hidden, but its just way to wattery to be 8 %

The beer is lightish orange with just a touch of pink hue to it. It’s quite cloudy. The head is fizzy and white. It puffs up a whole bunch but then dies down to nothing in relatively short order. The aroma is fairly washed out and flat. What flavors are knocking about are just ok. Phenolic character. Some medicinal, band-aid stuff. Decent raspberry note, a bit syrupy but not bad. A little bit of simple malt sweetness alongside a light lactic yogurty note. Unfortunately, the taste is plain old awful. Unpleasant phenolic action, like dried up cough medicine and multivitamins. Weird artificial syrupy fruit flavor. Utterly out of place tannic, grape skin bitterness. Mildly to moderately sour. Long cloying finish. Fizzy carbonation. Not as sticky as the flavor suggests but I very much mean that as faint praise. This is a bad beer. The flavors start off fairly off-putting and then clash against each other to form a cacophony of sweet and sour garbage.

Sampled from bottle @ RBBSG 2015. Very hazy dark orange color, medium sized white to off-white head. Smell and taste malts, a hint of sweetness, hardly anything else. Drinkable but a bit boring really. Fizzy carbonation as well. Meh.
