Brasserie Elfique

Microbrewery in Aywaille, Liège, Belgium 🇧🇪

Description
Elfique started life in an old family farm in 2005 in the little village of Sur la Heid at the top of the La Heid des Gattes nature reserve, at the summit of the famous La Redoute cliff, in the commune of Aywaille. As the cornerstone of an initiative to breathe new life into the old building, the micro-brewery was the ideal project: brewing an original, high-quality, artisanal product, with its roots in local tradition. Ten or so years later, in order to meet the ever-growing demand, the Elfique brewery acquired some land at Raborive, on the banks of the Amblève, birthplace of legends. Elfique is now brewed in a place steeped in history, downstream from Brassine, where the river has played a major role in the work of the best craftsmen for nearly five centuries...

A éviter.

Clear dark blond appearance with thin head. It delivers on the promise of cuberdons. Berry, jammy sweetness and Parma Violets. Tastes too sweet but the aroma brings back memories.

Sample brewed @ Brasserie Simon Small whitish rim over hazy copper-ochre beer. Very sweet nose with caramel, almonds, oxydized hops, herbs, candi sugar. Same in the taste: sweet, caramel and oxydized hops. Quite a syrupy feel, despite the hops. Here rather sultanas than almonds. Very slick, medium bodied, undercarbonated. Oxydation, oxydation... It seems aromahops are pretty susceptible.
