Bottle. Not a pilsener. Pale yellow colour. a little bit of a white head. Faint hop aroma. Light adjunct flavour with a tiny bit malt. No finish at all. Weak mouth feel. Avoid

What is a cheap four pack of lager from El Salvador doing on a supermarket shelf in rural Shropshire? Waiting for a mug like me to buy it I suppose. There must be more people drinking beers from around the world than I thought. The first bottle (355ml clear) didn’t touch the sides. I had been gardening and then chopping and sawing wood. I needed the preverbial ’lawnmower beer’, this fitted my requirement perfectly. A beer for the sweaty man, not for a beer lover. I detected no aroma, or taste, just a wet substance that was fizzy. I thought this unfair and poured a second bottle into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip glass. what I saw was the same pale urine coloured liquid, but this time with a good looking white foam head. Sadly the head fell away leaving bits of its self on the side of the glass and an intermitant covering over the beer. I give an average score of 3 for all lager/pilsners in the smelling stakes unless there is something extra, or nasty to report. This gets the 3, an aroma of rice and wheat may have been there, but the bottle claims malted barley is used, it is obviously an aromaless variety. Taste etc was thin, weak and with a Corona type feel to it, a burping beer because it is so gassy. I will not be rushing back to the store for more, but it does help me in my quest to drink beers from as many different countries as I can.

Big 40oz bottle pours a totally clear, yellow with some cloudy white head. Nose is corn, honey, straw. Flavor is watered down straw, honey, yellow corn, yeast, white bread. Watery finish. I’ve had worse swill.

Total Wine & More, Chantilly 32oz ($3): Pours a very pale colour with barely any head. Aroma is extremely light. As someone else has pointed out, this does not smell like adjuncts. Taste is really light but completely inoffensive. This is an easily chuggable brew. Not bad.

Powerfully skunky corn smell with an added layer of cane sugar. Crystal clear yellow, thin head, no retention. Tangy sweet corn flavor. No hop flavor. Weak, but unoffensive. It brings back fond memories of my college days drinking cheap pitchers of Rolling Rock. This, is much skunkier than any Rolling Rock I have ever had. Pilsner?

Clear bottle from a Save-Mart. Pours very pale gold with a creamy/bubbly white head. Light skunky aroma. Flavor is quite bready, tho not in a heavy way, and there’s a lot of noble hop. Barring the skunk it would be pretty decent for a pale lager.

12oz bottle from Cost Plus/World Market in Beers of the World box. Pours light gold with a fizzy/foamy white head. Rather clean aroma of light grass. Foamy carb renders body near med. Flavor is clean, no skunk, but not a lot of anything. Very lightly bready; very, very lightly bitter. At 3.9 drink it instead of water. Nothing bad here. Nothing super wonderful. Just a drink to slug down as fast as possible - or not at all.

Bottle. Poured pale gold with frothy too thick head, much lacing. Opening aroma was skunk, from being in a clear bottle, when the skunk left, there was a thin grassiness. Thin body and flavour flat and unsatisfying with a fatty mouthfeel, Bottled water finish. Pas op!

12 ounce bottle from Tiffany’s in Kalamazoo and shared at the 12th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering on 9/18/10. Pours a blue-green mouthwash color with no head. Big skunky notes when the bottle opened. Aside from that, a fairly bland beery like note with earthy and tea notes. Some crayons also. The taste is generic beer, faint skunk, some pale maltiness. Typical pale, fizzy weak lager. I’d prefer the mouthwash.
