Tasting at Papsø’s
Hazy light amber color with medium sized head. The hop aroma is pungent and earthy, resins and some manure, before the hops. It has a good body, with toffee flavor, a bit cloying like many double IPAs; strong bitterness, strong hop resins presence, earthy, fruits (mostly bitter oranges) and no real freshness.
Powerful, but heavy to drink.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Elwood. Pours amber with a slight haze and a lacing rough white head. Very fresh exotic hop aroma. Medium body, sweet tropical fruit, gets somewhat tropical. Solid, bitter finish. A nice IPA. 160612

Very deep dark red-brown beer. Just about transparent. No real head. Mild but unfortunate paint tones on the nose. Smooth soft palate, semi dry. Rich dark malt, not bitter or roasty. Semi sweet chocolate and mild coffee and a little cream. A dash of Port Wine and another hint of paint. Not getting much hop. Hides the abv well. Quite light all round and a good flavour that would be very good sans the paint.

Bottle. Pours a reddish amber with a decent foamy head and aromas of... malt... I’d swear there were rye in here, but maybe it’s just a funk kicked off by the HeBrew yeast or something. It’s not entirely pleasant, and I’m not a fan. After a quick shudder, I pick up a pretty doughy and caramel based malt presence with a little bit of a herbal hops presence. Flavor is simultaneously watery, soapy, herbal and medicinal. No... this beer is not for me... Guess I’m not \"Chosen.\"

Opaque very dark brown beer. Aged malt nose and a little chocolate. Surprisingly fresh palate, a little bit soft. Minerally malt. Chocolate that isn’t bitter or sweet. Biscuity malt. A little hop left. Smooth and still very drinkable. Wish I had caught this one in it’s hey day. Still good although the hops have clearly faded.

22 oz. bottle, pours a very dark brown (near black) with a reddish tinge and big tan head. Aroma of lots of rye upfront, cola, charred malts, burnt caramel and dark fruits. Flavour is very sweet with a melange of different flavours - coca cola, rye, caramel, some sweetened dark fruits, and candied sugar - becomes cloying the more you drink. Fairly complex palate, medium-to-full bodied, soft carbonation and way too high sweetness. The sweetness kills whatever complexity this beer possesses - sickly sweet.

Bottle @ home. Deep brown/black appearance with a medium sized brown head. Oaky, moderate whiskey, light/somewhat spicy rye, a touch tart, dark berry/plum, rich caramel aroma- quite a hodgepodge. Somewhat funky, tangy berry, pomegrante, raisin/dark plum fruity, somewhat tart, oaky, dark caramel, toffee, chocolate flavor that drinks fairly easy. The booze is a bit noticeable but not all that bad. The tangy fruit quality really caught me off guard but it made more sense once I saw Origin was in the blend. I can drink this without trouble and I really don’t enjoy the flavor.

22oz bomber pours deep and dark with mahogany edges and a nice tall tan head. The aroma has a good roasty maltiness with mild level of dark roastiness, smooth and mild bourbon and tart berry like nuances around the edges. The taste is a pleasing mix of berry and pomegranate notes blending with roasted malts, a mild level of chocolate and smooth sweet bourbon essence. The rich malts and barrel notes go oh so well with the berry sort of pomegranate here. Just dandy.
