Tap at the Deggendorfer Donaufest. Dark amber-orange body, lasting thick off-white head. Pleasant aroma, big orange notes, vanilla, low cloves. Bit tart, smooth malty, wheaty taste, bit caramelly, vanilla, more lighter cloves, light apple. Okay, highly drinkable weizen, maybe needs some more estery touches for me to like it even more, but hey, works anyway.

Bottle picked up from Markgrafen Getränkemarkt, Deggendorf consumed at home Sunday 17th March 2024, after a day of hard work in the garden (actually the whole weekend has been gardening). Pours hazy light/mid amber with a large white/off white head. Nice soft mouthfeel, banoffee, a little bit of wheatiness, abv is really unobtrusive, very more'ish' and surprisingly easy to drink considering the abv. I like this.

Außerhalb des Deggendorfer Raums eher schwierig zu bekommen. Wird inzwischen auch nicht mehr bei der Originalbrauerei in Deggendorf hergestellt. Zwischenzeitlich soll die Hutthurmer Brauerei mal der Produzent gewesen sein, inzwischen ist es seit einigen Jahren aber Wolferstetter in Vilshofen. Eindeutig ein dunkles Weizen. Schön süffig und sehr, sehr lecker. Hinsichtlich Schaumentwicklung und Kohlensäure befindet man sich in der goldenen Mitte. Malzige, leicht fruchtige, nur im Ansatz röstige Noten. Mild gehopft. Es gibt sicher Weißbiere mit mehr individuellem Charakter, aber kaum welche die ähnlich schmackhaft und süffig sind. Ein Top-Dunkles-Weizen. Den Werbespruch auf der Flasche Eine echte Spezialität kann man so unterschreiben.

Bottle picked up from Globus, Getränkemark, Plattling and consumed at home Wednesday 14th December 2022 listening to Steve Lamaq on 6Music and cooking Lax Pudding with Brussels Sprouts and Carrots. Pours amber with an off white head, a little maltiness to this, a spicy edge and background banana, it's really good.

War sehr schwierig an dieses Bier ranzukommen und habe mich sehr darauf gefreut. Nachdem ich den direkten Vergleich gemacht habe (hab sogar beide Biere im gleichen Glastyp eingeschenkt und neben einander gestellt), steht es fest: Das ist der normale Wolferstetter Weizen Bock (Bayer lässt bei Wolferstetter brauen). Obwohl der Wolferstetter Weizen Bock ein sehr anständiges Starkbier ist, bin ich doch stark enttäuscht. Ich habe nicht gedacht, dass sie es sich so einfach machen und nur ein anderes Etikett auf die Flasche kleben. Habe gehofft auf einen Bock auf Basis des gigantisch guten Bayer Weizens.

Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, rich malt, moderate to heavy yeasty, fruity yeast, dried fruit, phenol, weizen yeast, rich yeast, banana, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a long duration, clove, phenol, sweet yeast, weizen yeast, fruity yeast. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming.
