Established in 2006 by Jay and Lori Wince, Weasel Boy Brewing Company revives our city's rich tradition in brewing. It's the first brewery to operate in Zanesville, Ohio, since prohibition in 1918.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a cloudy orange-gold color with a medium sized foamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was musty, tart, citrus, chamomile and perfume. The flavor was semi sweet, yeasty, tart and had notes of citrus and chamomile. Long finish. Medium body. Ok.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was buttery and biscuity. The flavor was butter, biscuit and a bit of fruit underneath. Medium length finish. Medium body. Not good.

Sample from cask at the 12th annual Smokehouse Mini Real Ale Fest on 05/16/15: Dark brownish-amber color with a medium foamy beige head that dissipates gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, caramel and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, caramel, fruit and slight earthy hops. The finish is sweet and malty up front with a touch of grassy hops in the aftertaste. Above average overall.

Sample at the CCBW Six One Pour festival on 05/09/2015. Dark brown pour with a medium foamy beige head that recedes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Smoky aroma with oak and malt notes. Medium-bodied with a smoked malt character and flavors of oaky bourbon and dark chocolate. The finish is charred malt and bourbon. Pretty good all around.

Tap at North High. Massive barrel tones. Black-brown body, rusty beige head. Smells like booze, tastes like booze. Friggin booze bomb. Boozy caramel. Syrupy licorice. On another level. Not refreshing. Kind of a chore to drink. Not a horrible beverage, but not a good beer.

Sample at Daily Growler Powell. Brownish-black color with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Sparse small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, chocolate and oak. Full-bodied with a vinous character and flavors of oak, dark chocolate and roast malt. The finish is fruity with a vinous oak and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Sample at Brews Cafe. The beer is a slightly hazy yellow-gold color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly to a wispy film. Spotty lacing. Aroma of wheat, malt and banana. Light body with flavors of cloves, biscuit malt and herbal wheat. The finish is sweet with a short wheaty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Draft at West End Ciderhouse, Athens, 7/14/14. Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toffee, dark fruit, caramel and a hint of chocolate. The taste is toffee, burnt sugar, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits. Medium bodied, low carbonation.
