Bottle from Sainsburys. Almost black in colour with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of burnt malts, milk chocolate, prunes and vanilla with plenty of caramel. Flavour was very sweet, tasting of creme brulee, milky way and dark fruits, with a sticky, alcoholic Irish coffee finish. Way too sweet, it set my teeth on edge.

330ml bottle from Sainsburys Ashford. Black body, thin lasting beige head. Coffee and black choc aroma. It is like smelling a coffee dark chocolate chocolate. More choc and coffee and strong coffee in the flavour in mouth and swallow. The problem is that although this beer is 6% ABV, there isn’t enough firmness in the malts to carry the really strong flavours. So you end up with this high cocoa % choc and espresso coffee wandering all over the palate but not enough structure to pull it all together. Full of flavour, but needs structure. I probably should give it a lower score but I do like the choc and coffee.

Bottle from Tomlinsons beer shop, Inverness. It pours very dark brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is very sweet coffee, Irish Coffee pervades the air, treacle and honeycomb. The taste is very sweet, cheap sugary coffee, light roasted malt, treacle, cream and some acidity, with a dry finish. Quite light body and moderate carbonation. A bit thin and sickeningly sweet.....

500ml bottle - treacle black pour with tan head, thick at first but settles to a thin coating. Nice toasted malt aroma, but thin body and bland oatie taste lets it down. A good stout, but not the best.

500ml bottle - a clear ruby body with a thick foamy head which is lasting quite a while. A floral nose with some grass and sweetness there. The first taste is sweet, but goes into a bitter toffee-cum-caramel taste. Kinda oily and moderate carbonation, with a malty aftertaste. Not too bad, would possibly try again if I saw it.

500ml bottle - a rich golden colour with a thin white head that lasts, has a mild hoppy aroma with a kick of citrus. The taste is clean, with a creamy mouth feel, downside is a bit gassy.

Bottle shared. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Light coffee, roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Flavour is moderate sweet and barely bitter. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Quite stale, weird and unpleasant aroma with whisky, very ripe bananas, some peat and hints of apricot. Flavour is slightly sweet with whisky, peat, some apricot and hints of banana. Quite messy stuff.
