Description
Many moons ago, in the black of the night, Viking invaders were about to attack our hometown of Stirling, when a howling wolf alerted the defenders, who saved the town. We raise a glass to that wolf. The Black Wolf.
Started brewing in January 2004 using the name City of Stirling Brewery. It was initially a sister brewery to Bridge of Allen and Trossachs Craft Brewery. During late 2005 a new company was formed to allow further investment and the brewery name was changed to just Stirling Brewery at the same time. The name then changed to Traditional Scottish Ales Ltd in 2006. The name changed once more in 2014 to its current version.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear, greenish golden with a tiny, fizzy, white head. Sweet malty, slightly caramellish nose. Medium body, again sweet malt and caramel, a hint of hops and some British hops showing in the flavor. Hardly any bitterness though. Very middle-of-the-road? 300919

Bottle from Aldi Inverurie. It pours clear amber with a dissipating white head. The aroma is floral, weak lemony citrus, biscuit, rivita, touch of cardboard and toffee. The taste is crisp, dry, light bitterness, biscuit, toasted grain, rivita, cereal, floral, spice and a bit of lemon. Finish is dry. Light to medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. A pretty basic bottled all tbh. Not a huge amount to love about it, but it gets the job done.

Bottle picked up from Aldi Inverurie. It pours clear golden - amber with a dissipating white head. The aroma is perfumed, sweet sugared lemon, pear drops, melon, biscuit is a big part, white bread, doughy, toasted grain and cereal. The taste is sweet, rich tea biscuit, doughy malts, custard creams, pithy lemon citrus, pear drops, melon, light toasty grain and a touch of spice with a sweey baicuity finish. Average body and fine carbonation. Very average indeed. They can't have used too much cascade...Not great at all.

Black Wolf Valente Double Espresso Bottle 33 cl. Pours black with an orange hue and a small, rough, off-white head. Very, very sweet coffee aroma. Body is light, almost watery with very sweet coffee notes. You hardly get any beer feel at all – this is close to an iced coffee. Only if you have a very sweet mocha craving. 110219
