Description
Many moons ago, in the black of the night, Viking invaders were about to attack our hometown of Stirling, when a howling wolf alerted the defenders, who saved the town. We raise a glass to that wolf. The Black Wolf.

Started brewing in January 2004 using the name City of Stirling Brewery. It was initially a sister brewery to Bridge of Allen and Trossachs Craft Brewery. During late 2005 a new company was formed to allow further investment and the brewery name was changed to just Stirling Brewery at the same time. The name then changed to Traditional Scottish Ales Ltd in 2006. The name changed once more in 2014 to its current version.

Clear very dark brown, fizzy head, gone in a second. Roasted malt, caramel and coffee aroma. Sourish, roasted flavour, late hints of smoke. Dry. Not good.

From a 330ml bottle on 17/5/2018. Pours a clear light golden with a tiny head. The aroma is slight - perhaps a hint of whisky and fruit. Very sweet and fruity taste wise, with a bit of grainy malt at the back. Again, there is the barest hint of whisky, with a slight tangy bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Expected it to be more whisky-like. Just okay.

Tasting @ Koelschtrinker. Beginning of roasted hazelnuts. Smooth and thick, rich with lots of roast, but not too intense bittered. Like nice hazelnut latte macchiato, not too sweetish but very round and mild. No bitterness in the end, smooth coffee espresso with nice hazelnuts. Fantastic.
