Tallboy can. Hazy yellow, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of tart, dry lemonade, pale malt. Taste is lemonade, pale malt. Thin. Good for what it is.

Can. Pours a hazy amber orange with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of sweet grains with bread and a hint of cookie underlying. Flavor has lots of bread with some seeet grains and a touch of cookie backing.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 16 ounce can into dimpled mug, canned on 7/12/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, and herbal/grassy earthiness. A bit fruity/yeasty, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Fairly clean on lager flavors; a tad fruity/yeasty. Slightly increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium-plus carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.3%. Overall this is a very nice Oktoberfest. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter finish. This is a nice take on the style, though a tad too caramelized. Very rich and complex Munich/Vienna flavors; with just enough hops to balance the sweetness. A very enjoyable offering.

Tallboy can from Downer Wine. Clear copper, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of caramel and a tinny note. The taste is caramel, raisin, mild hops. Thin, watery. How the hell is this 99th percentile for marzens?

Bottle at ORD. Corny, sweet nose, touch of lemon hops. Pale gold with a fine head. Sweet, grainy, corny, lemon, some grass. Thin, watery. Ass, but could be worse.

This one is a tick above the other old school regional favorite brews bought out and produced by a conglomerate but I could be influenced by the fact I’ve only tried it a few times.

Can, best by January 2nd 2017.

Typical straw yellow colour? Minimal head of foam, short lasting

Corny grainy smell

Same for the taste but hells, I appreciate it for its simplicity and quaffability. --- Beer merged from original tick of Heileman’s Old Style on 04 Nov 2016 at 12:43 - Score: 7. Original review text: Not sold here. The manager got it from a buddy and gave it to me.

Pour from can at GABF. Clear burnt orange appearance with an off white head. Nice, chewy caramel/nutty malty notes. Somewhat herbal flavor. Pretty subdued flavor. Hint of corn. Fine.
