bottle - It’s very simple. This beer is yet another pale yellow, light malt and adjunct smelling, mild malt and adjunct tasting, thin, watery pale lager. So does a beer actually having taste mean it’s "pretentious"?

Bottle. Sour barley malt aroma. Golden yellow color with small head. Fairly dry barley malt flavor with very light hops. High carbonation. Decent - better than the average BMC offering.

Golden in color with a pillowy head that diminished about half way through. Very light malt aroma with a little sweetness as well. Flavor was generic. Malt and sweet with a little bitterness to round it out. Better than a Miller, but still not all that great. Cheap though...

Very pale straw colour. Husky aroma and husky pale malt flavour. Aside from the huskiness, this is a fairly clean example of the style, not showing the higher alcohols or esters of many other pale lagers. Thus, it is not objectionable. Seems like it gets sufficient lagering time and is lower on adjuncts than many of its competitors.

The beer of the Cubs. Had this at Wrigley. Pours a dull yellow with no real aroma. Taste is a stale malt, kinda like cardboard. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Funny, when the Cubs play the Cards here in St.Lou they actually sell this at Busch stadium for the Cubs fans.

Never really heard of this beer until I was at a crummy bar in Knoxville, Tennesse. Evidently, it is very cheap and they have it on tap instead of Natural Light/Ice. Needless to say, we had it...and it was just about as bad as you could imagine. Yellow colour, metal aroma, bitter flavour with a pungent and uneventful aftertaste. Overall, horrible. BUT, fun to drink when you are on Spring break in the 'south'! I had this on draught at Toddy's in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Better than some of this style, but not as good as Premium or High Life. Thin. yellow. --- Beer merged from original tick of Heileman’s Old Style on 28 Aug 2018 at 18:51 - Score: 0. Original review text: 11/17/03

Interesting, an American made beer sold in pale green glass, hint of sulfur, grass and other wise pale and light tasting. Nice imitation of Carlsberg, but why?

Thanks to Darkover for bringing Old Style into my life. I'm not really sure what this beer is trying to achieve, as it tastes like macro tripe. Why try to carve out your own niche by tasting just like any of the myriad offerings from Bud/Miller/Coors? Anyway the beer is a clear fizzy gold with a thin white head. Aroma of barely-there hops. Light bodied and crisp with a watery hops flavor. The finish is thankfully not nasty. Avoid.

Canned. I got a sixer to compare it to LaCrosse Lager, which is now being microbrewed in the original Old Style brewery. Even without a comparison, I could tell this was the loser. Corny taste among other adjuncts at work. Although there is... wait a minute... a hint of hops and yeasty lager taste poking through at the end. So not totally beyond redemption. Better than crappy Budweiser. Guess that’s why Wrigley Field switched to Bud: bad team, bad beer. Slight re-rate, Nov. 03: I moved it up a notch after having another, and finding it still does what it does best: get you happy in a hurry.
