pours amber, red ruby with golden/mocha head and quickly disappearing head. Aroma malty, caramel, brown sugar some notes of dark fruits (fig) and warming scent of alcohol. Taste, warming alcohol on back palate, some caramel malts, light chocolate and some spices. Mix of sweetness mouthfeel and bitter chocolate.

Bottle Pours out a amber with some red highs topped with a sand head. Aroma of sweetness all over the place, plenty of rich caramel malts. Tast was the same lots of sweet malts, brown sugar and even some fruit. Very nice.

Scored this 12oz bottle as an extra in a trade with SmokePot23. Thanks Joe! Pours a translucent, copper, bronze amber with a thin, creamy white head. Aroma is exactly what I like out of big malt bombs, plenty of sugary notes, a little peat, slightly boozy, a little bit of leather, dark fruits, cookies and crackers. Could have used a bit more hop in the nose. Flavor goes wrong a little bit, more cookies, crackers and biscuits, but there’s also some strange, slightly off, corn mash like hard sweetness. Dry finish with some burn from the alcohol. More abrasive than it needs to be.

pours black with light mocha head. Aroma roasted malts, light lactose nose and thin chocolate touch with some hops. Taste, malty, coffee, roasted malts and light lactose as well as possible dark fruits. A fine sweet stout, up there with Left Hand’s Milk stout.

pours dark brown with light mocha head. Aroma, good hoppy nose with plenty of fresh lime/citronelle coming forward and a fruity nose that is close of pineapple, floral. Taste of roasted malts, note of coffee, palate becomes a whirlwind of flavors between the malts and the lime that make this one a unique brown ale with a nice floral hoppy finish.

pours amber clear with beige head. Aroma of caramel malts. Taste malty, caramel, good roasted profile light hoppy finish and coffee touch in the middle. Smooth finish with a brown sugar / cookie dough like palate. Good stuff here.

Location: A friend of mine picked up a 6 pack of 12 oz bottle on a trip to NC. Drank this one 3/23/09.
Aroma: Nose is earthy malts, fairly faint
Appearance: Nice looking beer - thick, chalky off-white head, Dark copper/gold color, lots of lacing
Flavor: Some sweetness, lightly toasted, not much else
Palate: Light/Medium body, a little dry on the tongue
Overall Impression: Really good looking amber beer, but the nose and taste aren't up to the initial impression. I can't quite put on finger on the missing elements, but it could use some improvement.

Bottle: Poured a reddish brown with a light white head. Aroma is dark fruit and sweet. Taste is sweet winey dark fruit also mixed in with caramel malt.

Deep pitch black coloured body, completely opaque. The head pours nice and small - one centimetre deep brown. Aroma of roasted malt, milk, caramel and a bit of cherries. Thick, full-bodied; Strong coffee, oatmeal and roasted malt in the taste with a bit of nuts and milk following soon behind. Aftertaste shows lactic qualities, sweetness and a touch of dry coffee. Overall, a very nice imperial stout, perhaps not complex enough, but good for the location! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Durham, North Carolina on 31-August-2008, at home in Washington, drunk on 28-January-2009.

12oz bottle. Thick chestnut brown color. Very sweet, shows it’s alcohol. Dark and sticky. Caramel malt, lots of its, very thick and sugary. Pungently woody and sour, reminiscent of some Belgian Scottish Ales. OK.
