Pours deep dark with spotty mocha head. The aroma is roasty malts, molasses sweetness, rich chocolate, licorice and a bit of burnt malts. The taste begins sweet and rich with malts, chocolate and molasses. Really, what more do you need? To midway the flavor moves toward burnt malts and then into the finish it sweetens up with more molasses and thick malt sweetness. In the background are persistent vague tasting hops. Very nice stuff.

Bottle from Lowe’s Foods in NC. Nice roasty volatile aroma and it does have a faint milkish background. Coal black pour with a little sediment on the bottom but the brew is not opaque. Has a thin tan head. Friendly dark beer initial flavors of an old wet burned campfire log. A little stronger than I care for in a sweet stout. Alky shows thru readily. This is not quite as smooth as most sweet stouts, it even approaches the offensiveness of many impy stouts I’ve had and I guess this is why it is so highly rated on this site. Yes, many of the attributes of a imp stout, wew. Burned charred meat linger for a few minutes. Second bottle gets difficult at times.

Bottle thanks to daknole, best by 04/09 (No idea how old this makes it), wow this was good! Pours thick with a deep brown head that dissipates over the black body. Aroma of DR fruity yeast, vanilla, chocolate, oak, unami and licorice. Taste is wood, roast, sweet fruits, smoke, chocolate, plums and figs. Very complex. Syrupy mouthfeel, mouth coating with light carbonation.

12 oz bottle graciously shared by Gregis. 08 notched on bottle. Pour is deep black, cloudy with thin ruby highlights. Head is one inch, khaki, falls pretty fast with pretty lacing. Aroma of roasty espresso maltiness. Some tobacco, some sweet cane sugar. Touch of cherry fruit. Taste is soy, grassy, than the roastiness from the nose. The cane sugar sweetness comes in mid-palate, featuring some cherry and really overwhelms the finish. Sweetness continues to dominate the taste, getting a bit cloying. The alcohol is present in the end, and jumps out. This probably could have used a bit of age on it, a little jagged right now. Thanks for sharing Greg.

Black with medium deep beige head. Vinious aroma with notes of wood, dark overripe fruits, chocolate and coffee. Flavour has bitter espresso, dark bitter chocolate, again wood and hard roasted malt. Very vinious deep and delicious. Finishes dry with niced balanced hops. I Like!

Coutesy of Storm. Black with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with loads of roasted malt, coffee and chokolate. Flavour is very sweet and full bodied with plenty of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Soft mouthfeel. Nice.

Bottle thanks to TURDFERGUSON. Marked as best before 07/09. Pours with a small, light brown head that fades and a clear, auburn hued body. Aroma of brown sugar, port, strong sticky toffee, vinous, raisins, light smoke, peat and graham cracker. Taste is maple, peat, smoke and booze, not quite as deep or nice as the aroma. Syrupy mouthfeel, light bubbles.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Suttree. Best before 07 09 notched on bottle. Pour is hazed ruby brown with a smallish light tan head. Aroma is floral sweet caramel, and not too much else. The aroma is very soft, faint and rounded. Taste is a twangy bitter sweet caramel sweetness, with a nice dose of peatiness and malt. The sweetness borders on cloying. The finish is very much peat, earthy and lingering. The taste is much more forward than the nose. The floral hoppiness is in the finish as well. Palate is medium, mouth coating and a bit slick at the same time. This beer is quite complex and tasty, thanks for sending my way Phil!

Bottle 355ml. @ home.[ Courtesy of Secret Santa ]. Clear dark dakr brown color with a large, creamy - frothy, good lacing, fully - mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, chocolate, date fruity, vanilla. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. (010908)

Courtesy of cigarcitybrew. Pours black, off-white head. Aroma is fruity (raisin), grainy, some nice caramel notes. Taste, alcohol is noticable. Some roastiness, cofee and grains, add some nice chocolate malts in the mix and this is one fine Baltic Porter.
