Gallia Paris
Microbrewery
in Pantin,
Île-de-France,
France 🇫🇷
Owned by
Heineken France
Established in 2009
In 2019 Heineken acquired a minority share in Gallia. In 2021 Gallia became 100% owned by Heineken.
In March 2021, we opened a second 6000 m² brewery in Sucy-en-Brie (Val de Marne), a few kilometers from the Pantin brewery. Initiated in 2019, the construction of this new brewery met the objective of increasing our production capacities. The Sucy brewery allows us to multiply our capacity by 5 to meet the growing demand for our beers.
Some history: In 1890, J.J. Wohlhüter, originally from Alsace, created the brewery La Nouvelle Gallia and developed its activity to the point where, in 1896, it became the largest brewery in Paris. Thirty years later, in 1932, the brewery produced 150,000 hl per year. During the 1940s and 1950s production continued but declined. At the beginning of the 1960s, threatened by competition, the production of Gallia beer was gradually abandoned and the brewery was destroyed in 1968.

Malt and grain aroma. Similar taste, with a hint of hops and a quite watery finish, a bit dry.

On tap at Beers N Paradise. Pours a clear pale yellow with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a strong grass note with earthy dank pine and light grains supporting. Flavor has grass and earthy dank pine with leaves, a touch of citrus and bread backing.

Bottle: Poured a golden color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of cereal notes with some light unrefined grainy notes. Taste is also a mix of cereal notes with some unrefined grainy notes with some light residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Average golden ale with OK drinkability.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an almost clear, yellowy golden with a small, rough, white head. Tired and somewhat greasy, piney hops. Medium body, a dry fruitiness, some pine and citrus with a bitter finish. West Coast indeed. 180424 --- Beer merged from original tick of Nouveau Western West Coast IPA on 04 Sep 2024 at 18:13 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5.5. Original review text: Can 50 cl. Pours a hazy golden with a rich and lacing, white head. Fruity, peachy aroma. Medium body, a sweet fruitiness, again this distinct French Bière de Garde yeast that isn’t really suited for an IPA. No real bitterness. 040924
