Description
Guillaume Roy and Jacques Ferté relaunched Gallia at the end of 2009, in agreement with one of the brand's descendants. Simon Hicher, the first brewer of the Gallia renaissance joined the company to reinvent the Parisian brewing heritage with the 2 founders. In 2019, the company has more than fifteen employees, young, dynamic and motivated to defend the good taste of French craft beer!
In 2019 Heineken acquired a minority share in Gallia. In 2021 Gallia became 100% owned by Heineken.
In March 2021, we opened a second 6000 m² brewery in Sucy-en-Brie (Val de Marne), a few kilometers from the Pantin brewery. Initiated in 2019, the construction of this new brewery met the objective of increasing our production capacities. The Sucy brewery allows us to multiply our capacity by 5 to meet the growing demand for our beers. The brewery was, however, closed in 2023, the production of the regular range moved to other Heineken France plants, with specials still being brewed in Pantin.
Some history: In 1890, J.J. Wohlhüter, originally from Alsace, created the brewery La Nouvelle Gallia and developed its activity to the point where, in 1896, it became the largest brewery in Paris. Thirty years later, in 1932, the brewery produced 150,000 hl per year. During the 1940s and 1950s production continued but declined. At the beginning of the 1960s, threatened by competition, the production of Gallia beer was gradually abandoned and the brewery was destroyed in 1968.

Interesting beer, not an ordinary session ipa. You observe the influence of the mosaic and the chinook hop, really citrus, passion fruit, 20.08.18, buying it at one monoprix, Paris., drinking it at Prélaz, Lausanne.

Kolor żółty niemal klarowny. Piana biała, wysoka o średnio długim czasie redukcji. Co jakiś czas "maluje" na szkle.
Aromat słodki (słodowy), owocowy (chmielowy). Intensywność średnio wysoka.
Smak lekko słodki z wyraźnie zaznaczona a właściwie dominującą goryczką. Goryczka ma charakter zestu owocowego z akcentami sosnowymi.
Wysycenie wysokie w dół. Tekstura bardzo gładka. Ciało średnio wysokie. Posmak długi, wytrawny z chmielowym, owocowym tłem.

Old notes from 2015 - A bottle brought back from Paris by a friend. Pours a hazy orange colour with a white foamy head. Aromas of citrus & yeast. Taste is on the sweet side, with flavours of fruit including citrus with a hint of a bitter finish. Overall, a fairly decent hefeweizen.

Opalescent pale golden colour, medium sized white head; aroma of peachy, grapefruity, some tangerine, orange peel and floral notes; taste is similar to the aroma with definite hoppy bitterness; refreshing one
