Bottle from El Corte Ingles, Lisbon. Hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and light bretty. Flavor is medium sweet and light acidic. Dry and light acidic. No doubt this brett infection wasn’t intended, but it works well. 120116

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 5D, adapted). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 01-15. AROMA: strong apple like aroma with green notes and slight esters. APPEARANCE: light gold color and slightly hazy. moderate white head with average retention. TASTE: high hop bitterness dominating the flavour with green hop and some acetaldehyde notes. very low malt flavour with a bitter and semi-dry finish. PALATE: light body with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a lager with notes that resemble green apples (maybe acetaldeyhe), with very high bitterness and low malt support.

AROMA: medium-high sweet malt aroma, grainy, with low cereal husk. no hop aroma. medium-low alcoholic background with a slightly warm character. APPEARANCE: deep gold color and hazy with material in suspension. medium-low white head with medium retention. TASTE: inital medium to medium-high grainy-malty sweet flavor. medium bitterness with a dry finish. slight husk and acceptable faint sulphur. MOUTHFEEL: medium to medium-low body with low carbonation. slight astringency. OVERALL: an ok helles bock.
