Description
In August of 2005, the first jack hammer went into the ground in the empty warehouse in Pleasantville, New York, that was to become the living dream of our founder Scott Vaccaro. We brewed our first batch of beer in December of 2005. In December of 2011 we moved to Elmsford, finished construction of our new brewery, brewed our first batch of beer, and slowly shut down our old location. In 2014 we decided that it was time, after 9 years of making sour and wild ales, to take it to the next level by opening our new sour ale production wing, lovingly dubbed the “Fermento Funk Facility”.

Backlog May 2017. Slightly unclear golden body under a small white head. Aroma of sweetish pale malt with spicy Belgium yeast. Taste is sweet, some general fruitiness, smooth pale malt and low bitterness. Medium body and same aftertaste. Nice take on the Belgium golden ale style.

Pretty hazy deep copper and orange coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall off-white head that takes a while to fade and when it does, leaves a very thin lace on the sides of the glass. Aroma of deep pumpkin, squash, canella, cardamom and especially nutmeg and allspice notes with a good note of anise as well and some deeper malts with some pungent caramelised sugars - this is very nice on the nose. Medium-bodied; Rich, earthy and pungent pumpkin and deep squash flavours show at first with a lot of spice notes as well as some deep and robust sugars here, but the allspice, canella and especially nutmeg and squash components are the strongest with a good kick of dryness and earthiness throughout, all ending with some caramelised sugar notes too. Aftertaste shows the pungent squash, deep spices and strong caramelised sugars that come through here and leaves this very nicely balanced and robust with a touch of pungency at the end from the alcohol, malts and sugars, but well poised for the style. Overall, a nice and enjoyable beer throughout with a great balance of sugars, spice, malt and alcohol that gives off a lot of character but still remains easy-drinking enough, especially for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Bread & Honey in New York (8th Avenue @ 56th St), New York on 20-December-2020 for US$3,50 sampled at my house here, a few days before leaving back to New York for Christmas on 28-November-2021.

Delivers on its promise; bready and salty, with a mix of caramel and toast on the front end, followed by hints of lemon and apple and a doughy, briny finish. Dry for the style, which is nice. Not a bad way to ease out of marzens and into winter warmers.

Can 1 US pint. Pours a clear amber with a lacing, off-white head. Levely citrus zest in the nose. Solid, malty body, very fruity and zesty with some astringent bitterness (as in the white layer of a grapefruit peel). Very intense, but delicious, although I'm a bit sceptic whether the flavors are actually all natural... 291021
