Description
Once upon a bike ride, a gravelly puddle became the site of an injured lower leg. Recovering from the grazed knee, over a glass of local cider, we wondered whether we too could produce something so delicious and refreshing. We found ourselves a few acres of land surrounded by the Isle of Wight’s outstanding natural beauty, planted our 250 trees over several years, assembled our cidery in a cave under St Boniface Down, gathered knowledge from the traditional sources of the Three Counties and the West Country and got down to work. Grazed Knee Cider was born.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#73. Bought this cider at Quarr Abbey. Well carbonated apple cider, with plenty of the fruit available in its sweet nose, but the active bubbles spoil the taste somewhat, which is a lot more bittered here.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#59. Cider again. Soft smooth textured clear pale golden. Medium in the main but with a small dryness attached. Its apple is also on the sweeter side of bitter-sweet. Fair of the fruit aroma.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#57. Except it's a pale golden cider. Its dryness is immediate and prominent, obvious in aroma too, subduing its bitter-sweet apple to an extent. Box in bag in Cowes.

Bottle at home, thanks to SHIG, 14/07/24. Hazed orange topped with a good sized off white cap as it goes for ciders that clears to the edge and retains. Nose is dusty apple, grains, hedgerow, light funk. Taste comprises apple core, orchard wood, light funk, apple skins, tannins. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, light drying close. Passable cider.

Bottle at Pickle and Dill, Ryde. Aroma is dry and pithy with some juice. A slight haze to the golden body. Thin translucent white head recedes. Medium sour. Dry juice, sherbert and tannin. Light. Thin if a tad oily. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Not an overly exciting cider - dry and fizzy.
