Description
The brewery can look back on a long tradition. It was first mentioned in 1762 as a communal brewery. Only in 1923 the brewery became private property of Sigmund Pirzer and Hans Jakob. At that time it was called Bräuhaus Nittenau. Since 1996 the brewery has been known as the Nittenau Josef Jakob brewery.

Since 2006 the Nittenauer beers are produced in the newly built brewery in the Wulkersdorferstraße in Nittenau. The new production facility with its modern technology creates an ideal space for creative brewing technology, in which old processes are reconsidered, optimized and implemented to improve the product.

Sustainability and environmentally friendly production methods are of paramount importance. The brewery favours short trade routes and convincing freshness according to the motto "From the region - for the region". 94% of the energy required is covered by an own photovoltaic system. This makes the Nittenau brewery one of the few solar beer breweries in Germany (with a seal of quality).

0.33 l bottle from 'Craftbeer-Shop.com', best before March 2022. Black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish, rather roasty aroma of caramel, coffee, toasted nuts and a touch of wort. Gently sweet, malty, quite bitter, fairly roasty taste of loads of coffee, chocolate, caramel, toasted nuts and traces of wort, followed by a medium long, quite roasty-bitter, slightly earthy finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Decent stuff but hardly refined as the NA flavours are simply disguised by loads of coffee but still shine through. I prefer Kehrwieder's Road Runner.

330 ml bottle. Cloudy yellow, small foamy head. Bitter orange, liquorice, yeast, lemon, orange peel, light coriander. Mild herbal bitterness, light yeasty sweetness. Light bodied, milky texture, lively carbonated, dry herbal finish. Very refreshing and quite complex for low abv. 500 ml bottles for this please!

One of the last leftovers from the Kalea Adventskalender, courtesy of Peggy. Amber with a frothy white head that lingers. Aroma of citrus, honey melons. A touch floral. Taste is bitter, trending acrid by the end. A hop bomb for a bock. Medium bodied, moderate to mild carbonation. Okay but not exactly inviting.

Bottle from Haussmann Getränkemarkt. Light amber, mild haze, no Coronavirus measurable. Great lacy tall head. Mild apricot grapefruit nose. Flavor is more of the same, fruity goodness layered over a tart citrus Kellerbier-like Pils. Quite tasty!
