About
In 1866, the Krieger family bought the then brewery estate in the town center of Riedenburg from the Beilngrieser brewery family Schattenhofer, founded in 1756. The current owner, Michael Krieger (4th generation) took over the management of the brewery in 1970. The external economic framework for small, medium-sized breweries changed rapidly in the 1980s with the advent of the brewing industry and the mono brands. Many small breweries gave up. The brewer recognized the signs of the times at an early stage and, together with his wife Martha, developed a company concept that safeguards the continued existence of the company. Today's ecological brewing philosophy, which is equally committed to sustainability and beer quality, is based on the only responsible combination of ecology and economy. The Krieger family developed the brazen principle that quality is the top priority into an eco-socially sustainable corporate philosophy.

From 1989, after a period of preparation, the conversion to today's organic farm began. The conversion of the entire company was successfully completed in 1994. The Bavarian brewer family Krieger is an example of ecological pioneering work in Germany. Since 1994, the brewery has been the first Bavarian brewery with a holistic ecological concept on the market.

Very cloudy pale yellow put with no head. Aroma is quite faint: lemon/citrus, apple, grains. Taste is grain, white bread, some apple and herbs. Not mindblowing, but interesting for the novelty factor. Thumbs up for being organic

0.33 l bottle from 'EDEKA Knudtsen', best before April 2026. Slightly hazy, golden with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly bready, gently fruity aroma of lemonade and some bread crust. Quite sweet, minimally sourish, rather fruity taste of lemonade and bread crust, followed by a short, minimally bitter, a little tartish finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pleasant NA Radler with a bready touch.

0.33 l bottle from 'EDEKA Knudtsen', best before May 2026. Hazy, dark reddish brown with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, fairly bready and minimally fruity aroma of burnt bread crust, grains, some caramel and traces of raisins. Fairly sweet, malty, bready and minimally fruity taste of caramel, burnt sugar, bread crust and light raisins, followed by a short, hardly bitter finish.
