Courtesy of gillard. Pours black, dark brown head. Aroma, lots of oat, malty and chocolate. Taste, oat, roasted malts, chocolate, some nice sugars, and an in your face ABV that is really present. One amazing Imp. Stout, oat really comes alive and gives this a really nice and thick mouthfeel. Very drinkable, with exceptional fusion of the malts, roastiness, chocolate, etc.

Bottle thanks to JB175. Pours with a small, off-white head, and a very pretty, hazy amber body with nice lacing. Aroma is very nice with pine hops, toffee and apricot. Taste is pine, and bitter throughout with a floral finish. Creamy mouthfeel with a bit of lively carbonation.

bottle - Pours black with a thin tan head. It smells of coffee and dark roasted malt. The flavor has that malt and coffee with a touch of chocolate too. The medium to full body has smooth on the palate as the name indicates and has some mild hops bitterness. It’s a solid porter, but a pricey one for what it is.

Beautiful amber color, nice perlage, big fluffy head. Very nice hoppy aroma, with toffee, with a touch of vanilla at first, more evident resins later. Good toffee flavor, quite dry mouthfeel, strong bitterness, pleasant hops but not as much as in the aroma. Very good.

Hazy amber color, big head. It has an intense hop aroma, fruity, oranges primarily, then also resiny; sweet, perfumy. It has a medium body strength, with good toffee and caramel flavor, strong, some residual sweetness even if the mouthfeel is not sticky, and an explosive hopping, extremely resiny, almost burning, with bitter oranges and some grapefruit. A bomb.

Bottle: Poured a bright copper color ale with a medium foamy head with good retention but minimal lacing. Aroma consists of deep caramel malt with some astringent and bitter hops. Taste is also a mix between some caramel malt with limited sweetness and some astringent and dry bitter hops. I would have better appreciated this beer had more citrusy or floral notes been discernable. Medium body with good carbonation and no alcohol tasted. Not bad overall but still far away from some of the top beers from this style.

Pours a dark brown, with a fairly thick and lasting lace - aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate, black cherry, berry-like character, a bit of vanilla and brown sugar - very smooth, creamy mouthfeel, with a medium body - a little abrasive up front, but it smooths out fast - flavors of chocolate, coffee bitterness, dark fruit and blueberry - a little bit of tobacco and leafy character - a little doughy on the back end - it’s a solid porter, but it isn’t one that I am going to drop 9 bucks on a bomber of again any time soon.

660ml bottle shared with Eva at Nรธrrebro Bryghus. A rusty light to an otherwise plain black, naked body. Very inviting, blended aroma of dark malts. Initial flavour of roasted oatmeal leading to the delicate taste of cocoa and milk chocolate before the smooth tartness of coffee and anise sets in. Strong, but yet tender in the mouth. Full bodied and well balanced. Another great beer from Hoppinโ Frog (Copenhagen, 20.09.2008).

Bottle bought at Gl. Strand รl & Vin, Copenhagen. Slowly fading beige head resting on top of a deep, dark brown body. Roasted dark malts to the nose. Bittersweet flavours of anise, dark malts, sweet cocoa and some citrus hints. Very smooth, silky and gentle palate. Medium bodied (shared with Eva, hotel room, Copenhagen 19.09.2008).
