Thick-looking ultra dark brown. Beany, chocolatey, slightly phenolic aroma has an almost fudgey quality. Slightly fudgey in the body with decent chocolate notes and accents of nuts. Late alcohol burn. Thick, but rather standard, impy.

Very west coast character. Grapefruit aroma and lots of bitter grapefruit and citrus in the flavor. Some sweet malt for balance. Good palate and a hazy gold appearance.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a medium sized incredibly dark brown head. The aroma was sweet and roasty with notes of spice, pepper and coffee. The flavor was bitter and roasty with strong sweet chocolate and coffee. The finish was long roasty chocolate. The mouthfeel was thick and smooth. A bit of alcohol showed through but did not overly distract from what was a very tasty brew.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark red-bronze color with a medium sized orange-white head. The aroma was strong pine, resiny and fruity hops. One could almost smell the hop leaves on this one! The flavor was sweet yet bitter with a very strong flora, piney and grapefruity hop presence. The overall mix of hops was mildly harsh but complex. The malt base was thick and lightly sweet. Nice.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is some banana and clove but not much there. Flavor is a bit weak with some spice and clove but again nothing really stands out. Maybe I got a bad bottle seeing other ratings here because this is just average in my book.

22 oz. bottle shared by Gregis at the csbosox tasting on 3/7/08. Pour is deep cola brown. Decent tan head. Aroma of pine hops and roasted malt. The nose was very fresh smelling. Taste definitely represents both the hoppy pale ale and the big roasty coffee stout. Nicely made, and very interesting. As it warms, get a lot more of the stout. Thanks for sharing this one Greg.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head recedes to hug rim leaving no lacing. Chocolate and alcohol aromas. Metallic aromas. Tingly chocolate upfront with light body and a lasting cocoa-espresso finish.

Bottle at the Laid Back Brussels Tasting (Feb 9, 2008)
Hazy amber body with an off white, fizzy, fastly diminishing head. Nice aroma of flowers and a lot of hops (citrus, orange, pine-apple) and some malts. Intense aroma with a nice complexity and perfectly balanced! Moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour (hops, fruit). The hops are not that prominent in the flavour as they were in the aroma. Nice.

Bottle: Pours a rich, dark brown with a thick brown head. Aroma is chocolatey and roasted malts, just a hint of the oats. Thick and creamy texture just soothes your soul as it coats your tongue. Flavor abounds with chocolate, roastiness, oat, and light bitters. This is huge in flavor and reeks of pure deliciousness. Thanks BuckeyeBoy!
